The series tells the story of triplets Bobby Shafran, David Kellman, and Eddy Galland (all played by Ben) who were separated at birth in a bizarre social experiment back in 1961. A documentary of the same name was made by two of the brothers (Galland died of suicide in 1995) in 2018 and it won top prize at The Sundance Film Festival.
