Presley's engraved Smith & Wesson Model 53 was expected to bring between $60,000 - $90,000, but competitive bidding from gun enthusiasts and Elvis fans around the world resulted in a final hammer price that more than doubled the revolver's high estimate.
"The collectibles market has been experiencing unprecedented growth in several genres," said RIAC President Kevin Hogan. "When you combine two of those genres, Elvis' memorabilia and collector firearms, the result is tremendous excitement and high totals at auction."
Word is guns belonging to historical and pop culture figures are in high demand, so expect more sales like these. Elton John is in good health, we're told, after spending the night in a hospital in France.
John, 76, slipped at his home and went to a local hospital as "a precautionary measure," the representative said. He was discharged Monday morning and is back at home in Nice following checkups.
BBC says Elton has been spent the summer in France, after he finished his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour in July. He is with his husband, David Furnish, as well as their two sons, the outlet reported.
Elton's health has mostly been ok. He's been sober for 30 years and mostly takes care of himself. We wish him the best.

It was just earlier this summer when Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann filed for divorce, with Kroy taking the lead.
Kroy made multiple accusations of things that led the 'irreconcilable differences' claim that he listed on his court docs. Among them uncontrolled spending and too much drinking.
Kim responded by saying Kroy was suffering mental health problems from playing in the NFL and that was the lead cause of the split.
Either way, by early July they were seen going to church with their children and by July 7th the couple rescinded their request to divorce.
Well time can't heal all wounds because Thursday afternoon Kroy refilled his petition for divorce from Zolciak.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the couple's date of separation was listed as April 30, with The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum saying their marriage is "irretrievably broken with no hope of reconciliation."
Kim—who shares Kroy Jr., 11, Kash, 10, and 9-year-old twins Kane and Kaia with the former NFL player, and is also mom to Brielle, 25, and Ariana, 21—also requested primary physical custody of the kids and joint legal custody, per the docs.

The ridiculously angry rock star, Kid Rock, was so offended upon seeing the promotional campaign with Bud Light and Dylan Mulvany that he took an AR rifle and shot a case of it up to pieces for his twitter followers.
He then said Bud Light would no long be served at the bars he owns. Of course a good week later someone reported the bar was still selling the beer.

News broke late last night that the pair are separating with Sam being the one to officially file the papers with "irreconcilable differences" as the cause.
That basically means they agree to disagree. Although TMZ and Daily Mail are reporting he was spurred on by cheating allegations against the pop princess. That's the kind of thing that void prenups. yikes.
Britney has yet to comment on the divorce news but she did break her silence by sharing a bizarre Instagram post about vowing to buy a horse 'soon.'
