Heh. Check out this clip from Oprah's commencement address at Duke University. "It's great to have a nice home. It's great to have nice homes! It's great to have a nice home that just escaped the fire in Santa Barbara," she told the students. "It's great to have a private jet. Anyone that tells you that having your own private jet isn't great is lying to you."
But she also emphasizes that her greatest joy in life is being able to help others.
That, and the private jet.
Hey, Oprah, I have a thought: Maybe you could buy me a private jet? That way you'd be helping others and I'd have a private jet. And every couple of months, between trips to the Cayman Islands, I would use my private jet to go pick up Lindsay Lohan from a bar and drop her off at rehab. And then I would pick up Paris Hilton from her house and drop her off in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. See how many people would be helped? />

NASA launched the Space Shuttle Atlantis today, along with seven crew members, as part of the final service mission for the Hubble Space Telescope. A successful mission would make Hubble up to 90 times more powerful than it was originally and extend its operating lifetime until at least 2014. Their goals are to repair a critical component of the telescope, add two new instruments, and locate Suri Cruise's biological father.
The crew will be in outer space for 11 days.
You can watch live coverage of the mission control room here. />

It's the battle of the Gossip Girl actresses-turned-singers!
Not only is Taylor Momsen's band, Pretty Reckless, signed to a huge record and management deal, but now we have a second single out of Leighton Meester -- kind of. Leighton's featured on the new Cobra Starship single, "Good Girls Go Bad." Her bit starts around 1:15. I gotta admit -- this is a hot track. A really hot track, and I expect it'll explode this summer. It's trending heavily on Twitter right now, and that's probably just the first sign that we're gonna be hearing a lot more of this song.
Dude. Blake Lively. WHERE THE HELL IS YOUR SINGLE? Get on top of that, girl. You're losing ground here. />

Hi guys!
I realized that when I posted originally about how we're hiring for our sister site, Zelda Lily, I totally didn't include a deadline. That was silly of me and definitely just one symptom of me being overworked and needing to bring on more peeps!
The deadline to apply is the end of the day on Wednesday, May 13.
Please check out the original post here for further details and application guidelines.
I've had a lot of awesome applications so far, including some fantastic teenage writers applying for the intern positions. I am always so blown away by how intelligent and articulate this readership is. You guys rock. />Hi guys!

VERY cool stuff!!!
Stephen Colbert has donated his birthday this year to DonorsChoose.org. This is an organization the Evil Beet is very involved with -- you might recall the promotion we ran last fall where you, the Evil Beet readers, KICKED SOME ASS and donated a ton of money to fund educational projects in low-income school districts. I was passionate about it then and I still am. There is NO REASON why the children in ALL our schools shouldn't have access to the materials that will help them learn. If the government won't fork over the money, then it's our responsibility as private citizens to ensure that all our children in all our schools have the best possible opportunity to learn. I donate to DonorsChoose regularly -- even when I'm not running promotions here on Evil Beet -- and I'd encourage you all to revisit the site (or visit it for the first time!) and consider finding a project you connect with and helping to fund it. Thank you, Mr. Colbert, for promoting such a phenomenal organization that makes a REAL DIFFERENCE in the lives of students. />
