Courtney Love, I Think I Get You

After watching this (NSFW) video of Courtney Love’s Behind the Music, I’m having some mixed emotions. You see, I’ve been pretty repulsed by her behavior toward her daughter over the last year, and I’m pretty bored of her public temper tantrums, but like… she’s not that bad. I mean, she’s at least not that hard to understand. I can understand how a person would get to the emotional place that Courtney Love is in. She’s a “it’s me against the world” type of person, and people who are like that usually get that way for a reason. You know? This bitch just feels rejected by society and she has every reason to feel that way. We (the world) embrace her when it’s on our terms, and whether or not we’re responding to her positively has always reflected in her behavior. When we treated her like a movie star, she acted like a movie star. When we treat her like a trash mouth trainwreck, she gives us just that.

In this interview I saw her as a mix between the two, and that gave me hope for her spirit. I think Courtney Love is still a good person deep down, we just never let her be. She’s like that friend of a friend that you never really want around because their behavior is so unpredictable, but when you have a good time with them and they’re “on”, you can really have a good time with them. She’s just a really damaged person, guys. I don’t want to be critical of her because of that.

  • I dont care what people say, I am definitely a Courtney Love fan… through the good and the bad. I was telling a friend that this behind the music thing just barely scratched the surface of this woman and her story. If there was really to be a documentary of this woman's life, it would have to be an 11 part series narrated by Morgan Freeman. I guess it gives everyone an idea as to why she is the way she is, being born into and growing up in a very unstable environment. What's that saying? “The first 5 years of a child's life are important and shape them into what they will become as adults”… well, it's very very true! But I love me some C-Love and I probably always will…

  • I know what you mean Molls. Before watching the show I had no respect for her. I even disliked her a bit.
But now I kinda.. understand? Or at least have sympathy for her. Either way, I'm not going to roll my eyes every time I hear her name now.

  • I don't understand when people say shes so hard to understand…what the fuck? She's not. Go Courtney.Kick some ass.

  • I wish she'd start acting again. She was great in People vs. Larry Flynt and with the right material I can see her winning an Oscar.

  • I so agree with this, I have a friend who is EXACTLY like that, when she's awesome she's super awesome but then she's sometimes super shit.

I just wish that Courtney Love would get her act together a bit more because when she does she can be a totally amazing creative person.

  • OMG!!!!! This made me a complete fan, Check this out!!!!!!!Her Behind the Music was crazy, and she responded to it at a radio station in Philly the day after. She talked about Jared Leto (30 Seconds To Mars) hitting on her in his effort to play Kurt Cobain in the upcoming movie. Here's the link from the radio station.

  • I read the most fascinating article once about Courtney Love, and how both her mother and her biological grandmother were adopted at birth. So you had these three women: Courtney's great-grandmother, grandmother and mother, none of whom were even acquainted, but who were each others' biological family. And all of them ended up notorious in some way, quasi-famous, and in each case it was partly because of artistic talent and partly because of being completely fucking nuts. Yeah, nature won that argument.
