Everyone has had something to say about the Tiger Woods scandal and go figure, most of it is less than complimentary. Many former fans have taken to Tiger’s website the past couple of weeks and berated and belittled the golf pro for his extramarital affairs, and Tiger decided that he’s had enough of that. From E! Following Woods’ final blog entry announcing his indefinite departure from the sport, the option to leave remarks on blog posts appears to have been removed from the site entirely, leaving only the “Dear Tiger” page, in which fans are encouraged to send the star a question—hecklers need not apply.
While there were definitely some Tiger supporters up in those comments, the vast majority from recent weeks was haters. It makes sense for PR reasons to take it down, but the idea that Tiger had “had it up to here” with his Internet haters? Pretty priceless. Can you imagine someone like Lindsay Lohan or anyone who is used to getting shit-talked on a regular basis making such a move?
In my experience, shutting off people’s ability to vent about you only makes them vent more. If you’re a public figure, you have to be prepared to take the good with the bad, especially when you’ve been quite bad yourself.
Tiger has enough money to get enough people to spin his story and turn this train around, eventually.
Honestly, I couldn’t care less.
