Where The Wild Things Are was the top movie of the weekend. I know this because the Internet tells me so, but I also know this because I took my kids to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (stupid!) yesterday and there was a huge overflow of pre-teen brat-monsters that filed in at the last minute because Where The Wild Things Are was sold out. Incidentally, — and if you are Facebook friends with me, you already know this — tickets for two adults, two kids, two small popcorns and a bag of M&Ms was 60 bucks. Sixty. Dollars.
Anyway, it was surprising that WTWTA pulled in $32.4M and the other big, premiere movie, Jamie Foxx’s Law Abiding Citizen only posted sales of $21.2M.
Here’s the weekend stats, and you’ll notice that Drew Barrymore’s Whip It has already careened off the top ten list. Crash!
Everyone I’ve talked to has said Cloudy with a chance of meatballs was really good… I have to go see it for an animation field trip.
it was really good – it had kid and adult humor, a cute plot line, and the animations were great. i suggest seeing it in an imax movie theater, if you live near one.
It was cute for a kid flick. I agree it had great animations.
I thought Meatballs SUCKED!!! Like, really sucked! I was miserable the whole time! Blah!
Where the Wild Things Are = great fucking movie.
Toy Story?
They released it again with Toy Story 2 as a double feature.
In 3-D!
Where the Wild Things Are = Worst movie of 2009. couldn’t stand it!
You can avoid paying 60 bucks by buying candy at a convient store (cheaper!!!). My mother would have never paid that much, so we always snuck candy in. I still do it now!!!
movie theater prices are ridiculous. especially the food! I have a special big cheap movie purse that i fill up with goodies from home, or even fast food meals….way cheaper and better food! :)
Snuck in a bunch of chocolate chip cookies and even a piece of cheesecake (lol) when I went to see Where The Wild Things Are over the weekend, its the only way for me. I’m not buying ridiculously over-priced movie theatre anything. The movie was great btw. I may even have shed a teat of nostalgia :)
Ugh…I meant tear* ;)
teat is much funnier than tear, made me LOL! Funniest thing ive read all day! thank you!
My daughter and I saw Wild Things today. I am still not sure how I feel about it. I actually cried at the beginning and not a bit at the end. I felt bad for Max. But something about the ending did not sit right.
this is really disappointing! The Invention of Lying was a FANTASTIC movie
I think it’s not doing as well because it’s not playing at every movie theater. We have three theaters around my city and it’s not at a single one.
Thanks for actually taking the time to print screen that!
