Actor Rupert Everett thinks Michael Jackson’s death is one of the best things that could have happened to the the freakish King of Pop. I’m not even disrespecting the dead — these are Everett’s words:
I think it was fortuitous that he died,” he said.
“He was supposed to be doing 50 concerts in London. It wouldn’t have mattered how good or bad he was. He wouldn’t have managed to do all of them and the press would have destroyed him.”
Rupert also claimed that it was the child molestation accusations that caused Michael’s early demise.
“He was a freak. He looked like a character from Shrek. He was a black to white minstrel,” Everett told the Daily Mirror.
“He was crucified by that court case when he was accused of child molestation – that killed him. He personified the pain and anxiety of a black man in a slave country. We all watched as he changed from black to white. He was living performance art.”
And though he felt that Jackson was racially confused — “We’re living in very strange times. We have Michael Jackson, a black man who has gone white, and we have President Barack Obama, who is a half white man gone black. It’s absolutely fascinating to watch” — he would have bedded the pop star in a minute. “I would have leapt at the chance of sleeping with Michael Jackson when I was 14.”
Well, what an asshole. I’m sure Michael’s family doesn’t think that death was the best option for their son, brother and father. I know that a major aspect of the art of celebrity is self-promotion, but there have to be more productive ways to keep in the spotlight other than verbally desecrating the dead.
Wow!!! It is unfortunate that Rupert had to open his mouth – I used to think he was a hot, gay actor and lauded him for being open about his sexuality. Now, my opinion is quite different!

I can’t believe what comes out of some people’s mouths. I remember watching Rupert with Julia Roberts in My Best Friends Wedding and finding him utterly adorable…What the hell happened?
He’s a bitter old has been. He’s constantly berating gay men who wish to be parents, always bitching about how coming out ruined his career (duh, Rupert, could it be you poor choices in gigs or your general assholishness? Mebbe.) How very rude to say something like that about MJ. Whatever he was he was still someone’s son, brother, etc. I wonder how many people will breathe a sigh of relief when crabby pants up there decides to bump off or at the very least, S.T.F.U.

I completely agree with him but it was an ‘If You Can’t Say Anything Nice Don’t Say Anything At All’ moment. His saying that serves no purpose other than to hurt Michael’s living relatives.

I agree! The whole praising Michael Jackson just because he’s dead thing is a little creepy. I mean, there’s a strong possibility that he was a child molester. But it’s true, OF COURSE Everett is gonna get slashed for saying that, because that’s the reaction you’re expected to give. Sigh.
I kinda get what he’s saying. Everyone is coming out of the woodwork discussing Michael’s genius now. Last month he was an embarrassment that no celeb wanted to be associated with. If he had lived to a ripe old age, he would have remained a has been. His untimely death certainly increased his popularity-look at the Itunes sales.
You know, his quotes could read a little differently if you consider that fortuitous does not mean ‘fortunate’ or ‘lucky’. People who use it to mean “happy chance” are in error: it more accurately suggests a coincidence.
Or maybe I’m trying to convince myself Rupert Everett could never be such an ass.
Fortuitous may have originally meant “accidental,” but it has actually acquired the meaning of “lucky” (it’s listed as a secondary definition). And although I – like you – would love to convince myself that he’s not such an ass, from the context of the quote I don’t think it’s possible.
He’s just baiting anyone willing to listen. Sad that he has stooped to remarking on a dead person for attention.

He has a point. He was like a living performance art. I don’t think people should just ignore the fact that he was a very unusual person; they should be asking WHY. His emotional issues were symbolised by his changing appearance. I’m sure any psychologist would have a field day trying to wade through all of his issues.
Having said that, Everett should have worded it in a more sensitive way.

I don’t think MJ’s family cares about any of this, they are so busy selling off what is left to be sold to SONY that they haven’t even bothered to bury MJ. He’s still sitting in a cooler at Forest Lawn, it’s only been a month since he died so why rush and go ahead and inter him? It’s all about priorities with that family, and money comes first. As for Rupert, he’s always been insensitive and self involved, he has no internal sensor and hasn’t picked up on why his career in dying. Perhaps more face work…
As for Wendie, there is no way to argue that she is very pretty, so Nathan it’s got to be personal, or you just hate women in general. Either way, perhaps you find men more attractive, and more to your “taste”. Cheers!

It shows a weak mind full of jealousy and the realisation that he won’t have a celebrity send-off such as MJ. Pay tribute to what MJ stood for brilliant music and love. And when your time comes Rupert and you have met your fate you will then realise what a horrid and unkind person you were it will be shown to you in graphic detail. Okay so Rupert Everett who played a character in Shrek and has had numerous amounts of plastic surgery himself, is calling Michael Jackson a freak. Wow, really?
I find nothing really freaky about Michael Jackson. I mean, it is entirely obvious that the man had body image issues- could be from abusive dad, could be from Pepsi burns, could be anything really- we can speculate all day. The honest truth is that his plastic surgeons should all be held accountable for their actions. Any morally correct person would’ve declined Michael Jackson as a patient or a candidate for MORE plastic surgery but the truth is everybody just wanted his money. Perhaps they convinced him he needed surgery, perhaps he wanted it, who knows. The point is, these alleged doctors are enablers just as those who provided him with drugs and pain medication.
Long story short, for an avid fan of plastic surgery to call someone else out on their plastic surgery- in the most negative and demeaning way- is preposterous, revolting and hypocritical. Just my opinion.
