Elisabeth Hasselbeck is about to go on maternity leave from her hosting gig on The View and some insiders are saying that Barbara Walters is considering Miss California, Carrie Prejean, as a replacement.
If you watch The View, and I’m proud to say that I don’t, you can see how exasperated the other hosts are with Hasselwreck. They all seem to think that she’s an idiot with no valid content to contribute. According to this week’s print issue of National Enquirer, Barbara is looking to make a more permanent change.
“Adam and Eve… Not Adam and Steve!” That loud scream you heard was terrified Elisabeth Hasselbeck wailing that Baba Wawa – aka Barbara Walters – keeps plotting to bounce her from “The View” because of her shrilly-silly views.
But this time, “Elisabeth really has something to worry about,” said a show source, who revealed that while Dizzie Lizzie’s on maternity leave, Walters will audition, as her fill-in, the right-wing babe on the block – Miss USA runner-up Carrie Prejean, who made national headline with her “no gay marriage” bombshell during the pageant.
And it could turn into a permanent gig for the controversial beauty queen, say show insiders, because Barbara’s seriously fed up with Elisabeth’s coo-coo-conserva-babbble – and her looney-toon responses to co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd.
When Joy asked, for example, why she kept defending Mel Gibson – refusing to admit he’s a hypocrite for divorcing, despite his much-avowed Catholic faith – the exchange got reeeally ugly.
Said Joy: “Listen, Elisabeth, there’s a self-righteous-ness to the guy.” Shrilled Elisabeth: “Isn’t it self-righteous to call someone self-righteous?”
Groaning like an embarrassed granny, Barbara quietly gasped: “Oh, Elisabeth!” Stay tuned.
Listen, the “young professional” seat is cursed. Ask Debbie Matenopolous and Lisa Ling. If Carrie does come on board as a full-time host, I want her to explain how God’s plan doesn’t include same sex marriage but does include getting pageant-sponsored implants.
If Barbara Walters is tired of Elizabeth”s conservative views, why would she replace her with another Elizabeth?
I was just gonna say the same thing. Sounds to me like Miss California’s views are pretty similar to Hasselbeck’s.

I don’t agree with anything that the Hasselbeck girl says but you need her on there. There would be no discussion without somebody who has a different opinion.
Also I do watch the show (I am student and have too much time on my hand – same reason I comment here) sometimes because Whoopie Goldberg is my idol. This woman is so freakin’ clever and cool and just pure awesomeness that it makes this show watchable.
And for Hasselbeck – don’t get me wrong – I don’t like her but I think it’s ridiculous how much hatred she gets. She is the only republican up there and I feel like she thinks she has to stand up for any opinion which is considered remotely conservative. Often I feel that she actually doesn’t believe what she says but she has to say it because she is loyal to what she stands for.
Come on – everybody needs somebody to identify with – that’s what The View is about. And some people just identify with the republican girl next door.
I happen to agree with you Ali. As a gay man living in all places, Indiana, I understand the need for people to voice their opinions regardless if they are in opposition of my beleifs. However; I am a frequent reader of this blog because Sasha, Wendie & Kelly share most of my many beliefs, including that there should be no discrimation against gender, race, ethinicity or sexual orientation. GIRL POWER!
I am just…too frustrated for words. So much that is wrong about that post (not your writing Wendie, but the state of humanity).

This whole Miss California controversy freaks me out. I can’t get how we’re living in 2009 and there’s still so much discrimination agaisnt people for so many reasons.
I think love is the most powerful feeling in the world. Love makes us do things that we would never do. I think we make the world a better place by loving. So, why do we care about where that love comes from? It doesn’t matter if it’s between a gay couple or a straight couple, it’s love. And we all are equals. So we should have the same rights. I’m not gay, but I do support gay people. It’s not about being gay, it’s about being humans. We are all humans, we are deserve to have the same rights.

since when is marriage a RIGHT? where is marriage in the list of basic human rights? gays have all the rights as any other human, they as a group need to stop screaming about being denied the right of marriage. gays wouldnt be discriminated against if they would stop shoving their sexual preference in everyones face and then getting pissed off about people disagreeing with them. if a person doesnt say they are gay or make it an issue they get treated like any other human. if you force me to deal with what you do in the bedroom and i dont happen to agree it isnt the same as me DENYING you your rights. being gay isnt like being black, fat, tall or short…
I think it’s not the right of marriage, it’s the right of having the same opportunities and choices as anybody else could have and do. I happen to agree with you in some point, because gays shouldn’t get pissed off when other people disagree with them, but it’s really hard to have the same opportunities, even today.
Never watch the View because it’s a show for the dumb and uninformed. I will watch it if Miss California is going to be on! Carrie is Awesome…. She’ll hold her on against any liberal and especially the airhead libs on the Views. Just watch and see.. :-)
LOL I AM SO SURE. the girl couldn’t even answer a simple question about states legalizing gay marriage (by the way, that was the question, not, “do you think gay marriage is right?”). If she answers everything that way, she will be trampled on by the others. Rightfully so.
