What, you thought we wouldn’t?
These awards are like the Grammys of awesomeness. I cooed the entire time I was looking through these pictures. SO CUTE!
I should note that Leo was specifically asked not to compete this year, because it would make it unfair for the rest of the competition. So, instead of being at the Westminster Dog Show right now, he is at home with me, attempting to eat my risotto after spending last night destroying one of my favorite sandals. Leo would win the award for Worst Behaved Puppy, hands-down.
I like the dog that has knocked out the kid and is proudly sitting on him.
Love them all. I can’t watch the ads though, cause through the tears I feel like I have to run out and adopt a dog or 10.
Don’t you love David Duchvney’s voice-overs, though?
Dammit. The boxer only got second place in the working group. Stupid giant schnauzer.

nah, don’t understand why people do this…not that I don’t like cute dogs, but, man, these pudels, that is just not looking healthy…I wonder if they are ever allowed to go out and play in the dirt…and with all those fur-missing parts…must be freakin’ cold, don’t you think? This whole dog breeding isn’t nice if you need to dress your dog so he can bear the weather changes!
My sister did the whole dog show thing (we have a whole mess of show dogs because of it) and honestly these dogs are extremely healthy and well taken care of. At least all the breeders I’ve met (her mentor actually handles in the westminster dog show among others and my sister has been there several times) have taken extraordinary care of their animals. Most of them are the sweetest animals you’ll ever meet. And not just show poodles are groomed like that, it’s breed standard, and people with poodles as house pets do it too. Sometimes their fur gets out of control and matty, these kind of dogs need regular grooming.
We shaved our dog to,in the summer,so it wasn’t going to be to hot for him with his winterfur, but what I meant with my comment was that it sure must be frickin’ cold for the poodles.I’m sure that most of the dogs are in a good condition and I was actually only reffering to dogs who miss certain parts of their bodyhair, because I still don’t understand why people would breed animals who have no or almost no bodyhair,so don’t get me wrong ;)
(this is actually one of the moments when I wish I was a native speaker, because that would make sure that I could express what I mean EXACTLY,sucks to know that someone maybe doesn’t understand what I’m trying to say…^^)
Hung like a poodle. Insult or compliment? And I hate to ask but do they get the male brazilian along with all the other shaving?
I wish they had a cat show like that. THAT I would watch.
Ok Beet, I have a bone to pic with you so to speak…..where is that beautiful Samoyed and Siberian Husky? Speaking of Siberian Huskies did you happen to see the video of the shoplifting husky on youtube? Hilarious.
Stump (the winner) is sooo cute, he’s a little old man, I want him! :P
OMG Beet, you have made my day, I’m going to look at the pictures right now! :)
seriously those poodles are f-ing ugly. post pics of weimaraners and shiba inus.. those are good looking dogs.
Yay for little Stump! I cried like a baby when he won! It was bittersweet for me this year. Our beloved chow chow passed away the day after Thanksgiving just a few months shy of 15. I love all dogs. Helplessly and unashamedly. My husband and I aren’t quite ready for another, but we watched this show together and reminisced. We are now looking into rescuing a shar-pei and an italian mastiff. People relinquish these because they don’t realize the time consumed with giant or high maintenance breeds. We also want a little one – maybe a shi tzu or shiba. but we have a large back yard and the ability and desire to commit to the animals we adopt. They are not our pets – they are our family.
Hey Beet – did you know that the Shiba Inu 6’s dad was competing? Fun!
i was rooting for the scottish deerhound but i loved all the dogs…each so beautiful in their own way, like all dogs. mulder is right: dogs DO rule.
I’m definitely not a fan of those poodles especially when they are all saved like that…they look ridiculous! I wish I was at the show this year so I could’ve seen it all live! I just went on
madison square garden’s blog and they posted other photos of the
winners plus a backstage video of the dog’s getting prepared yesterday.
good stuff! wish I had a dog again! :(

I LOVE dogs! With all of my horrible, jaded heart. I couldn’t choose. They’d be arresting me for attempting to sneak off with the little ones in my pockets – I have three Scottish Terriers and a Cairn. The oldest female, Fiona, who is elderly, is in congestive Heart failure. We thought we were going to lose her a couple of weeks ago, but she had an infection, got treatment and is doing really well. Katie, one of the dearest little Scotties ever to grace this tired old earth, died a couple of years ago of cancer. I do miss her so. All of you out there, who have the patience, love, financial wherewithal, and sense of responsibility; go adopt a dog. They’re like kids; they’re a lot of work, and a lot of responsibility, but your life will be changed, for the better, forever. You will have no regrets. Take care and have a good night. Fielding, Fiona, Baylee and Huntely send you their kind regards.
