Michelle’s Ball Dress Designer Better Known for His Work with Trannies

LOL-tastic!

Michelle Obama’s dress on inauguration night did not go over well with most of you.

The designer, Jason Wu — who didn’t even know Michelle would be wearing his design until he stepped out in it! — was previously an unknown in the fashion industry. In fact, his most notable achievement prior to this had been designing clothing for a line of high-end dolls in the image of celebrity tranny RuPaul. Sounds more like a Project Runway challenge than a career!

“I really didn’t know she’d be wearing it until I saw her on TV last night, just like everyone else,” he told Teen Vogue.

“I dropped everything when she walked out — and, yes, I did cry a little bit.

“It’s an incredible moment for me.”

Wu was perhaps best known for creating a range of RuPaul dolls for top-end retailer Integrity Toys, with some of his creations selling for up to $300.

Just goes to show that your life can change completely overnight!

Jason is the hottest thing in the fashion world right now!

  • Based on the title…

“— who didn’t even know Michelle would be wearing his design until he stepped out in it! —”

…I’m not so sure that was a mistake.

  • I don’t think it flattered her figure at all. I was disappointed in the color and it looked like it had pom poms on it not flowers.. I am not a fan of one shoulder look either.

  • I do think it looked a little wedding-y and she should have gone for another color but overall i thought it was very classy. and i like the fact that she chose a no-name young designer rather than versace or cavalli or something.

  • That’s rich and I like your little Freudian slip there :). I liked the drees even though it looks like my parents bedspread. I was at an Inauguration party and all the gay guys hated that dress.

    • The bedspead thing….my first thought too….AND she looked hot in it! They are bringing sexy back to the White House.

  • well, he has already been featured in fashion magazines as mainstream as teen vogue. so he wasn’t completely unknown

  • It comes down to what you like… not my taste. The dress and coat she wore for the inauguration was just beautiful.

    • I thought the dress made her look unshapely and the color did nothing for her. But I saw somewhere that it was heavily lined, and while it was not my style, I could see why it was hers. And i don’t mean that in a mean way. The white gown was very nice though!

  • Here in Michigan, the designer of the infamous Aretha Franklin hat just got famous overnight. Her hat is supposedly one of a kind, at $179 but he’ll make a similar product for the same price. Lord help us all!

  • I thought the dress was so HER though.

She’s all about something different, yet elegant looking.

She chose great accessories and carried it beautifully.

She exuded confidence, grace and beauty. And white was a GREAT color choice. Look at how it POPPED off of her. :) Very nice.

And yea, you know, fashion is relative. I’ve seen people in things they think are amazing and I was thinking “GO BACK INSIDE.”

    • She exuded, “I’m gonna sleep with the fricking PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES tonight….”

  • I didn’t like this dress. Bad color. Bad fabric. And the one-shoulder thing doesn’t suit her. An unfortunate choice.

  • I like it. I thought it was very soft and sweet. I think she looked like a princess.

p.s. just need to say that i would never judge someone by the dress they choose anyway :)

  • Not figure flattering at all, but for some reason, because she is who she is, people feel compelled to say nice things, or defend the look. If she were just some actress, people would be stating the truth, which is she looked like a ginormous Q-tip, and her hips should be contained by Spanx and a dark color.

  • It looks like a design by Cottonelle and Northern. What a hideous mess but it suits her since she has horrible taste. Comparing her to Jackie Onassis should be a Federal Crime. Jackie had style, grace and class. 4 years of being the bitter First Wookie, woo hoo.

    • I agree! I haven’t been too impressed with her fashion choices either. I’m not even a Republican but I was always floored by Cindy McCain. She always looked amazing IMO.

  • I think it so totally goes with the slogan “Make a Change” … by wearing this dress she changes the way people looked at the person who designed the dress… as mentioned in the article “hottest thing in the fashion world right now!” I think it was a very smart choice and a great start…
