Just as it seemed like the movie theater industry was heading for collapse, we’ve hit a recession. And this is VERY GOOD NEWS for movie theaters, who traditionally do well in recessions, because they’re a comparatively inexpensive outing.
“We’re approximately two-thirds of the way through the quarter, and we are having a very good fourth quarter this year compared to last year as an industry,” Regal Entertainment Group’s CEO Mike Campbell said.
Are you guys going to the movies more often these days?
If so, what are you skipping out on to save money? Professional sports? Live theater? Concerts?
im skipping out on my daily botox injections if that’s what you’re asking. but yeah my friends and I go to movies like every single weekend, and concerts have been reduced to once or twice a year.
You know, when I was still in the states, movies were like..5..6..7$ dollars TOPS. Last time I went, it was TEN fucking dollars, yo.
How expensive is it nowadays?
I used to see movies all the time but when they uped the price to $9.50 I stoped. I haven’t seen a movie in the theaters in over a year. I only go to local shows which are usually $5 for 4-5bands.
Honestly, I hardly go to the movies more than once or twice I year. I can’t stand other people talking, flashing their cell phones around, or whatever else goes on in a damn theater. I teach public high school. I don’t need my free time filled with people even less controllable than my students.
If I ever do go, it’s the $1.50 theater that gets movies a few months late. Otherwise, it’s just me watching flicks on my laptop.
Um… I’m skipping out on toilet paper and toothpaste to save money to see movies…
They are cheap and fun!
…and also for some reason I always get a whole row all to myself.
Hello!!! People have you heard of Matinees?
