It’s been a rough few months for late night host James Corden. He’s stepped down from his show to return to England and then got banned from Balthazar for being rude to the help and now joke stealing?
James issued an apology to his fellow Brit, Ricky Gervais, for “stealing” a 2018 joke of Ricky’s “word for word” to use in his late show.
The joke, attached below, shows the comparisons of a joke Ricky made about Twitter users over reacting to nonsense. The two are the same.
Gervais retweeted a clip of Corden repeating his joke on The Late Late Show last night, and said in a since deleted tweet: ‘The bit about the town square advert for guitar lessons is brilliant.’
He later said he deleted the original tweet because he ‘felt sorry for Corden’.
James later took to Twitter to sheepishly apologize for the theft.
“Inadvertently told a brilliant Ricky Gervais joke on the show last night, obviously not knowing it came from him. It’s brilliant, because it’s a Ricky Gervais joke. You can watch all Ricky’s excellent specials on Netflix,” Corden wrote.
