There was a hole left in the heart of many, when Neil Patrick Harris and the gang were narrated through the last of their episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Colloquially known as HIMYM.
Now Hulu is going to fill that hole. Fill it good. But like all re-releases, there’s a catch. It’s now the telling of how Hillary Duff met “your father”.
HIMYM creators and writers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas with Emily Spivey wrote a pilot for CBS called How I Met Your Dad but it wasn’t picked up. Then in 2017, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger did their own take on it, but it didn’t come to fruition.
Now, Carter, Craig, Isaac and Elizabeth are all back for How I Met Your Father as executive producers. “Kids, I’m going to tell you an incredible story: It’s the story of how two writers got lucky enough to make their dream TV show for nine seasons and now get to pass the torch to an inspired new creative team with their own incredible story to tell, the story of How I Met Your Father,” Carter and Craig said, per Deadline. “We are honored by their passion and vision, and look forward to helping them tell a legendary new story. Thanks to all the HIMYM fans out there who waited for it.”
The cast of How I Met Your Father will officially include:
- Hilary Duff as Sophie
- Francia Raísa as Valentina, Sophie’s roommate
- Chris Lowell as Jesse, an aspiring musician and part-time Uber driver
- Tien Tran as Ellen, Jesse’s adopted sister
- Suraj Sharma as Sid, Jesse’s roommate and best friend
- Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Valentina’s beau
- Brandon Michael Hall as Ian, Sophie’s Tinder match
So far this is all that’s known, but this should be very interesting and at least draw in a huge crowd for the first few eps!
