Michael Peterson was a Novelist whose wife, Katherine, died after an apparent fall down the staircase in their home. The medical examiner said there were clear signs she had been beaten to death and Michael became the primary focus for police.
There have been… seriously, like 6 documentaries, both film length and one hour tv show format, about this story. I don’t know why, exactly, it captures peoples attention so much, but it’s a favorite among crime junkies for sure.
Now it’s being made into a top of the line TV movie staring Colin Firth as Michael Peterson.

It’s been a long and winding road, but well worth the wait to be able to find partners like HBO Max, Annapurna, co-showrunner Maggie Cohn and the incredible Colin Firth to dramatize such a complex true-life story.”
