Look, I have to come clean. I wasn’t even aware Morgan Wallen was a person. But that’s the way it is with me and Country Music.
So this guy, he’s 27 and he’s famous (below the mason dixon line) and youth + fame often equals an unwarranted sense of immortality and worse, a lack of personal responsibility.
Bosses at SNL were made aware this week of videos of Wallen out partying up the night and kisses girls by the handful. All without the necessary masking.
Well they can’t risk the likes of Jim Carey or Mia Rudolf by having someone on set who may be covered in covid. So they pulled the plug on him.
To his credit, he responded correctly. With an apology and a promise to do better.
“I was getting ready for ‘SNL’ this Saturday, and I got a call from the show that I will no longer be able to play, and that’s because of COVID protocols, which I understand,” Wallen said on his Instagram.
‘I respect the show’s decision because I know that I put them in jeopardy, and I take ownership for this. I’d like to apologize to SNL, to my fans, to my team for bringing me these opportunities, and I let them down… I think have growing up to do.’
Well good on you. I respect that.
