Eddie Van Halen, the virtuoso guitarist who became a rock icon in the band that shared his name, has died at age 65.
His son Wolfgang tweeted the news Tuesday, saying his dad “lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning.”
The band Van Halen formed in the ’70s and became a staple of rock radio with the help of outlandish frontman David Lee Roth and towering hits like “Runnin’ With the Devil,” “Panama” and “Dance the Night Away.”
