You want to remake ‘Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead’? I’ll get right on that Rose.
Word is Treehouse Pictures will be taking a stab at remaking the best movie no one saw. The 1991 movie about 5 siblings who, while their parents are out of town, try to assume the role of the adults when the woman watching them dies. It was sooooo good. Christina Applegate at her finest.
“Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead is an iconic cult classic,” said Treehouse president Nappi. “We look forward to bringing audiences a new interpretation that is as funny and outrageous as the original but also smart and connected to the world today.”
Said Phillips, “I’m amazed at how many people can quote dialog from the original film and I think this team has a fresh and modern approach to the story that will resonate in a brand new way.”
No word on when they’ll get started. I can’t say I love the idea, but I do know I’ll be watching it when it comes out.
