Harvey Weinstein is circulating an email allegedly sent to him by Ben Affleck to cast doubt on Rose McGowan‘s claims that the disgraced producer sexually assaulted her in 1997.
According to a statement from Weinstein’s attorney Ben Brafman to Page Six, Affleck and McGowan’s manager at the time, Jill Messick, who supposedly had knowledge of the alleged attack, has denied McGowan reported anything to them afterward.
“She never told me nor did I ever infer that she was attacked by anyone,” read the alleged email from Affleck, per Brafman. “Any accounts to the contrary are false. I have no knowledge about anything Rose did or claimed to have done.”
“When we met up the following day, she hesitantly told me of her own accord that during the meeting that night before she had gotten into a hot tub with Mr. Weinstein,” Messick’s email allegedly read. “She was very clear about the fact that getting into that hot tub was something that she did consensually and that in hindsight it was also something that she regretted having done.”
In her new book, “Brave,” McGowan details the alleged Weinstein assault in full, claiming he cornered her next to a Jacuzzi and performed oral sex on her while pleasuring himself.
“He moans loudly; through my tears I see his semen floating on top of the bubbles,” she writes, according to a New York Times review.
One pervert using another pervert as a character witness. I just love it.
