Luann de Lesseps has made the decision to go into rehab following her drunken Palm Beach arrest.
“After the events of last Saturday night in Palm Beach, I am truly embarrassed,” the “Real Housewives of New York City” star told Page Six in a statement on Friday. “I have decided to seek professional guidance and will be voluntarily checking into an alcohol treatment center. I intend to turn this unfortunate incident into a positive life changing event. Once again, I sincerely apologize for my actions. I have the greatest respect for police officers and the job they do. My actions alleged in the police report do not reflect my core values and my law abiding character. I am so grateful for the love and support that I am receiving from my family, friends and loyal supporters.”
De Lesseps, 52, was arrested for disorderly intoxication, battery of an officer, resisting arrest and making threats against a public servant early Sunday. According to a police report released Tuesday, de Lesseps was discovered trespassing in a hotel room with an unidentified male, causing hotel security to call the cops. De Lesseps and the man were in bed together, according to the report.
After being cuffed, she allegedly tried to escape from the back of a police car and screamed, “I’m going to f–king kill you.”
Following her arrest, de Lesseps told Page Six that “long-buried emotions” related to her failed marriage to Tom D’Agostino triggered her behavior.
