Something’s been a bit off about the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie divorce from the beginning. For a couple who seemed so loved up for so many years, their split seemed to come out of nowhere. This is partly because they were rarely in the press, which was pretty refreshing – but also because, as we later found out, Angelina apparently filed for divorce as the result of one particular incident involving Brad and their eldest son Maddox on a plane.
You may or may not remember that Brad was apparently under investigation by CPS as a result of the incident, but he’s since been cleared of any wrongdoing. Now that that’s done and over with, Angelina (or rather, her publicist) has decided to release a statement about everything:
“The job of the DCFS is to make sure the children are in a safe and secure situation. As we said earlier this week, childcare professionals encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides that was in the best interest of the children. Angelina said from the beginning that she felt she had to take action for the health of the family and is relieved that after their 8-week involvement, the DCFS is now satisfied the safeguards are put in place that will allow the children to heal.”
Obviously none of us know what happened here. Brad doesn’t strike me as a violent type, really – he’s more of a lazy stoner with sex appeal (well, back in the day for the latter part). However, if Angelina felt like she needed to get the authorities involved, it’s good to see it was investigated fully and that everything seems to be okay – not their relationship, of course, but the safety of the children is definitely the most important thing.
I think it should have been handled privately. The world did not need to know about the alleged act. Now, people will only remember that and Brad’s image and reputation is tarnished. Why did she not handle it privately or come out with a personal apology after he was ‘cleared.’ I used to think she was a good person;I do not now. I am a feminist and am writing because what is fair is fair regardless of gender. He was deemed not guilty. She owes him an apology and more.
Hey, you cause a divorce, get a divorce……..round and round we go!
Oh! I’m sorry……..someone just told me I’m suppose to feel sorry for someone’s shitty life choices. NOT!
