If the name Aubrey Plaza doesn’t really ring a bell, you could easily IMDB her, but I’ll help you out: you probably know her as April from Parks and Recreation or as a minor character in a bunch of weird movies that you probably haven’t seen. Anyhow, if you are an Aubrey fan, you may be interested to know that she’s come out as bisexual, I guess.
From The Advocate via Entertainment Tonight:
The 32-year-old actress tells the LGBTQ magazine, “I know I have an androgynous thing going on, and there’s something masculine about my energy. Girls are into me – that’s no secret. Hey, I’m into them too. I fall in love with girls and guys. I can’t help it.”
“My family’s always been very open,” she explains. “I have a gay aunt and a gay uncle, and I grew up thinking that everyone had a gay aunt or uncle. My younger sister is a lesbian, so it’s just in my blood, I guess. She came out to me when she was 17 or 18, and for, like, a millisecond I was surprised. Then I replayed our entire life in my mind, and I was like, ‘Of course! Of course I know that!’”
I can’t really be all that annoyed by her because a) she didn’t make some big deal about it/clearly wasn’t seeking attention and b) the bisexual community is likely glad for all the visibility it can get. I guess I just really look forward to a day when this doesn’t make headlines. God knows when (or if) that’ll happen, but a girl can dream.
