As an actress, you pretty much spend 24/7 permanently starving. If you want to work in Hollywood, you’ve got to be painfully thin (with a few exceptions, of course), and stars take this seriously. That’s why it must be so much fun to take on a role for which you’ve got to actually gain a bunch of weight, because it means you finally get to eat. That’s exactly what Kirsten Dunst did in preparation for her role on Fargo – she just laid in bed and had a nonstop feast. Sounds like heaven!
She opened up about her experience on Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show on Tuesday night:
“I gained weight for this role,” the 33-year-old actress, who also used Jane Iredale cosmetics on set, told Kimmel. “But really, I just sat in my bed, watched Friday Night Lights and, like, ate.”
“I was in Calgary,” she continued. “It was cold, so I ordered in a lot of pizza [and] grilled cheese. I just had different cheeses and breads together.”
She didn’t mind gaining the weight, or plugging Season 2 of the hit show, either.
“It’s nice to, like, promote something and not have to lie about it,” Dunst said of the anthology series, which is set in South Dakota and Minnesota in 1976 for this season.
Of course, there are other times when actors have to LOSE an insane amount of weight in a crazy small span of time, which mustn’t be much fun. I suppose that’s when you skip the salads and subsist SOLELY on Diet Coke and cigs, no? (Old stereotype, of course.)
Have any of you watched the Fargo TV series? I used to love the movie, but I’ve never been sure about movies becoming serialized, so I haven’t tuned in yet.
The series is fabulous! You have to watch Season 1 firrst, though!
I watched the first episode of Season 2 a couple of nights ago. I’m hooked. She did a great job.
She still looks tiny as hell. Did all the weight go to her boobs or something?
she still looks hollywood thin, i don’t understand what she’s talking about.
