Kim Cattrall may be best known as sex-loving Samantha Jones on Sex and the City, but she’s also just a pretty awesome lady in general. Like many of her fellow actresses, she’s been plagued by constant questions over the years about when she’s going to have kids, because women are vessels for breeding and that’s about it. It’s never been the right thing for her but, as she explained on a radio show called Woman’s Hour this week (via CBS), she doesn’t feel any less of a mother because she’s never given birth.
“I am a parent. I have young actors and actresses that I mentor. I have nieces and nephew that I am very close to, so I think the thing that I find questionable about being childless or child-free [is]: Are you really? There is a way to become a mother in this day and age that doesn’t include your name on the child’s birth certificate. You can express that maternal side of you very, very clearly, very strongly. I guess the word is — it feels very satisfying.”
I mean, sure, why not? There are many ways to express a maternal instinct, that’s true enough, and if her instincts have been satisfied in this way, who cares? Of course, some people on the internet aren’t happy about this (because when are people on the internet not mad about something?), but whatever. Keep living your best life, Kim!
Why whine, if you are okay with having not given birth.. ? That is a normal question.. you even have to declare yes or no on official documents..
