We only just finished one Super Bowl, but we’re already looking ahead to the 2016 game – or more particularly, the 2016 halftime show. Who will perform? Well, there’s one rumour that’s been floating around this week, and that’s this: Britney Spears may well headline the show. Oh man.
From The Daily Mail (so, you know, giant grain of salt):
According to the ever reliable Daily Mail Britney Spears has been tipped to perform in next year’s Super Bowl Half Time show taking place in San Francisco. ‘She’s ready to do something massive,’ according to sources and ‘She’s definitely doing a part in the Super Bowl halftime show next year. The details haven’t totally been worked out yet, but it will be huge.’
Britney Spears is in the middle of a hugely successful Las Vegas residency that has allegedly been extended until 2017. She is also currently said to be recording her 9th studio album set for release this year with an upcoming duet with Iggy Azalea.
Of course this isn’t the first time Spears has graced the Super Bowl stage. Many remember her iconic presence during the 2001 halftime show with Aerosmith, Nysnc, Nelly and Mary J Blige serving as her special guests.
Huh. I mean, I suppose it can happen – with all the pomp and circumstances, it would be easy enough to cover up the fact that she can’t carry a tune to save her life (I know Katy is no Celine Dion, but she can at least find the pitch and somewhat stay on it). Of course, this is PURE speculation at this point, so we don’t need to panic.
What would you think of a Britney Spears halftime show?
So we MIGHT getta see lazy stripper robo dancing over autotune on repeat? I MISS OLD BRITNEY!!
Please no! (As an aside that picture looks more like a female impersonator than BritBrit)
How about some rock and roll or hip hop or something, why does it always have to be washed up middle aged pop stars?
