The death of Joan Rivers has hit the entertainment world hard, but one of the fellow celebrities most affected by her passing is Kelly Osbourne, who has worked with Joan on E!’s Fashion Police for the past several years and grew close to the comedian both personally and professionally.
Here’s what Kelly wrote on her Facebook page after hearing the news:
I’m completely heartbroken by the loss of my beloved Joan. Not only was she my boss, she was and will always be my teacher, therapist, closest friend, inspiration and the only grandmother I ever knew. She was family and I will never forget her. Laughter will be difficult for a while but when I’m sad, lonely or upset all I will have to do is think of Joan and a smile will cross my face. Laughter is what she gave us and laughter is what she would want us to do in remembrance of her. Melissa and Cooper, my thoughts are with you and I love you both so much. Joan, thank you for taking me in and loving me as a daughter. I will miss you deeply and will always hear your voice in my head saying ‘my darling get out there and be you!’
Very sad and very unexpected. Hollywood will never be quite the same, that’s for sure!
Jennifer, I rarely comment on what you write in a post. But I have to say, I am somewhat disturbed by what seems like some blatant hypocrisy on your part. In another post about Joan Rivers, you wrote that you have always hated her and you felt someone needed to bitch slap her. And now you say her passing is very sad and unexpected and Hollywood will never be quite the same. I’m NOT saying that you have ever made statements wishing her harm or wishing her dead. But it seems odd that you would express such a strong feeling as hate about her in one post and then add your comment about her passing being sad in this post. And, I’m also NOT saying that you can’t express that her passing was sad just because you hated her. But you sure do send mixed messages. When those messages portray such strong emotions as hate one day and sadness another, it is disturbing. And it does seem hypocritical to express sadness over the passing of someone you profess to hate.
Yep. Thought the same thing.
Well, I’m not PERSONALLY sad, but I can appreciate that the Hollywood community is, which is what I’ve said all along. No matter what I thought about her – that she was unnecessarily harsh, unfunny, etc – I am certainly aware of what she’s done for the world of comedy, especially as a woman, and am aware that there are a lot of people who actually knew and loved her. Also, I don’t know about you, but even when I dislike someone, I certainly don’t wish death upon them.
Of course Kelly is heartbroken. Her meal ticket is gone. Without Joan, Kelly would still be that horrid little goth troll, not a wealthy, famous little troll.
