Shailene Woodley is… a special girl. She’s an unrepentant hippie, a non-feminist, a pretty decent actress and generally a bit of a weirdo, but a weirdo that we all can’t help but sorta love anyway, for some reason we can’t really put our finger on.
The Fault In Our Stars is doing amazingly well at the box office and sending audiences home sobbing everywhere, but Shailene is ready to chillax and take a bit of a break for a while to see what other “artistic facets” she can tap into. She does, however, still have one iconic role she’d like to take on: Stevie Nicks.
From Women’s Health:
I would love to play Stevie Nicks. She’s just such a fascinating woman who’s lived such a life and is still living such a life. Her music was really profound for me in my life. Yeah I think it’d be an adventure to play Stevie Nicks. I love that there is no other Stevie Nicks in this world. She is so fully herself, and undividedly herself. That in itself is such a powerful lesson to take in and be like, ‘wow.’ No one is going to be the next Stevie Nicks and Stevie Nicks was next the next anyone. And I think that’s such beautiful advice for all of us. You do you, we do we. She does she in such a beautiful way. I think it’d be great to sing in a film. I love to sing. I guess another dream movie would be a movie like Once. It’s so romantic and sensual and musical but doesn’t feel like a musical necessarily.
You know, at first I raised my eyebrow to this and thought, aw, hell to the no on that. Then I actually sat and thought about it a second and I think it might be a streak of genius. Will it be a disaster? Yes, of course – Shailene is a good actress, but far too young and not QUITE good enough to take on such a legendary role (not to mention biopics are generally disasters no matter how good the acting is). Second of all, all I keep picturing in my head is Jane Krakowski as Jenna Maroney on 30 Rock and her Janis Joplin biopic (well, Jackie Jormp Jomp), and it’s kinda cracking me up.
How is she going to take a break if she still has the Divergent sequel left? Plus once the third book is out I guess that one will be made into a film too, and if it follows The Hunger Games’ lead, it’ll be turned into two films. The third book isn’t even published yet but, you get me.
1. The third book is out and has been quite a while (if you mean Allegiant)
2. Yes, it will split into two movies
3. I don’t think she will take a break until Insurgent and Allegiant are out which will happen in 2016
