Nicole Kidman’s Grace Kelly Biopic Won’t See the Light of Day After All

Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly in Grace of Monaco

Hope you weren’t getting your hopes up for Nicole Kidman‘s Grace Kelly biopic, Grace of Monaco. While it was originally due for release in November 2013 and was then moved to March 2014, it’s now been cancelled indefinitely due to a “disagreement” between director Olivier Dahan and Harvey Weinstein.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

The movie has yet to be delivered to Harvey Weinstein’s company, making it difficult to begin generating final marketing materials, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

French director Olivier Dahan presented a difference version of events, and publicly lashed out at Weinstein for wanting to change the film. “It’s right to struggle, but when you confront an American distributor like Weinstein, not to name names, there is not much you can do,” Olivier told a French newspaper at the time. “There are two versions of the film for now: mine and his … which I find catastrophic.”

Insiders say Weinstein gave Dahan notes, but that Weinstein has no creative control over the project and cannot make cuts to the film.

Well, who knows what really happened here, but the bottom line is that at this point, this movie is never going to make it to any screen, be it at the movie theatre or on DVD. Not that Weinstein will care – he’s too busy making his anti-NRA movie, I suppose.
