Parisians Are Rude to Scarlett Johansson

I mean, Parisians are rude to everyone, right? That’s like, a French thing – they’re sophisticated and beautiful and willowy and eat lots of cheese and they’re rude as hell. It’s all so dreamy!**

Well, it’s not all that dreamy for everyone. Scarlett Johansson, for example, has been living in the City of Lights with her fiancé Romain Dauriac, and the locals haven’t been all that welcoming lately. She shared her experience during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman:

In case you’re too lazy to watch the interview or you’re at work, here’s a few excerpts:

“Like, when I first got there I thought that… the whole kind of rude, Parisian thing was just [not true]. I was like, ‘People aren’t rude, they’re wonderful!’ That was before I was a mainstay there and then people decided that once I wasn’t going away, they could just be rude to me!”

AND

“I’m from New York… and I just assume, because you’re from New York, it’s like a wonderful dance in this street, you kind of avoid [each other] and it’s a choreography, walking down the street.

“And then when I got there [to Paris], I assumed it’s a kind of Provincial town, where people don’t know how to walk… and the fact that they’re just body-checking me, they’re just confused.

“But no, they’re not confused, so now I just do a stare down from halfway down the block, and I started getting really aggressive with people now, and I don’t care!”

Ha! I actually feel her pain on this one – I hate people who hold up pedestrian traffic! Still, I’m not discouraged –

** For the clueless: Yes, I’m generalising and no, I’m not serious, so don’t get your panties in a twist.)

  • ” when I got there [to Paris], I assumed it’s a kind of Provincial town, where people don’t know how to walk”.

Oh darling. Paris was one of the main cities in the world before the first shack was built in NY. And you bring the attitude? Yeah, they’re gonna be rude, and you deserve it.

    • right? paris is a provincial TOWN? damn, girl…your boobies aren’t big enough to cover up that much stupid.

  • Not to sound cocky, but the last time I was in Paris most of the people were lovely…but then again, I also didn’t bring any unflattering preconceived notions about the city with me, so maybe that helped a bit (just sayin’).

  • “And then when I got there [to Paris], I assumed it’s a kind of Provincial town” Oh, LOL, funniest thing I’ve ever heard about Paris. Drop the attitude girl, you’re the rude one here.
