Is Jennifer Hudson a big enough, important enough celebrity to warrant her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Apparently someone thought so, because she got one this week, presented to her by Clive Davis (Kelly Clarkson wouldn’t be pleased!).
Here’s what he had to say about the prestigious honour:
“She may have come in seventh place in the third season of American Idol, but by 2010 The Los Angeles Times had her in the top three of the greatest contestants in the history of the show. I have been privileged in over 25 years with two of the greatest voices of all time – Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston. I never thought I’d hear another voice to compare and yet staring me in the face was a new voice that did compare. It literally sent shivers up my spine.”
And here’s what Jennifer said during her acceptance speech:
“Look what God can do. I knew I would get emotional and I’m sure my mom is in heaven like, ‘Jenny stop crying’ but now’s the time to cry mama, it is.
What a massive hullabaloo – and yes, that’s the only word I could think of to describe it. All this pomp and circumstance for someone whose career can be mapped out into three parts: American Idol, Dream Girls and Weight Watchers. SMH, sorry, I don’t agree with this one.
Gurl, I couldn’t have said it better. Kinda ready to see her go. Actually, I’ve been ready for that since Dreamgirls.
Seems a little early for her to get on the Walk of Fame but these stars can be bought so there are a lot of questionable people who get these stars.
