Ohh man. Julianne Hough did blackface as part of her Halloween costume when she dressed up as “Crazy Eyes” (Uzo Aduba) from Orange Is the New Black. The costume idea is a good one — it’s creative — but the execution (the makeup) is just so bad and for so many different reasons.
The thing is, Julianne Hough looks nothing like actress Uzo Aduba (below) to begin with, so making her face dark doesn’t help the costume at all. I don’t know why she thought it was a necessary choice.
This is a very nice costume. Everyone needs to relax…Christ.
Why the hell wouldn’t she just go as Piper!?
I don’t know why but this kinda makes me like her, I think the costume is hilarious and clearly this was her idea. Who would have thought this chick is funny?

Irrelevant and now racist. You can dress up as a character without having to put on blackface. I can’t believe what I am about to say but Miley Cyrus dressed as Nicki Minaj a few years ago and it was completely clear who she was going as, but she didn’t don any blackface. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to comprehend that blackface is racist.
It’s a costume. She’s trying to look like the woman she is dressed as for Halloween, who just so happens to be black.
I’m not entirely sure why this is such a sensitive issue. Is there something wrong with being black? There must be if you’re not allowed to pretend to be black for a Halloween costume.

Look into the history of blackface and try to understand why it’s racist and totally inappropriate for a person in this day and age to be donning it. White people have never had to fight to be who they were born into this world as, so therefore you don’t get to say people of colour are “too sensitive”.
