Taylor Swift is like the Kate Middleton of Nashville (just go with it), so the city is always bestowing her with plenty of songwriting awards and other accolades… and now they’ve allowed her to open her own music school! The Taylor Swift Education Center opened on Saturday (bit weird, but again, go with it) and is part of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The whole thing cost a cool $4 million to create.
Here’s Taylor’s statement:
“I’m really excited about this music education center and the fact that right now they have three different classes going on today. It’s really exciting that we can be here on a day when they’re not only unveiling it, but they’re starting to actively use it today.
“We’ve been talking about different programs I can be involved in. I hate to call it a lecture because that sounds like I’m yelling at people, but we could do a Q&A talking to students here and a songwriters discussion would be really fun to have at some point.”
Sweet. Look, I know it’s Taylor Swift and some people are gonna give her shit for this, but music education programs are seriously underfunded, so any contribution to that area is a good one. It’ll be great for local kids in the area, so go team!
If it helps kids, and isn’t sucking money out of the pubic coffer, I’m good with it. She’d make a great mother. And I’d love to try like heck to give her children! (although knowing who’s been in there before me might make me very squeamish!)
You sound like a delight.
