Michelle Williams is great and everyone loves her. She picks great roles, is really gorgeous, seems quite down to earth, yada yada. Well, now she’s got another great role to look forward to: Sally Bowles in the Broadway revival of Cabaret, which is being put on by the Roundabout Theatre Company.
Hilariously, she’s replacing Emma Stone in the role, who had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts. Sally Bowles is the legendary part once held by Liza Minelli, and somehow, I just cannot imagine Emma coming close to filling those shoes, so this sounds like a great change to me!
Also awesome – Alan Cumming will be back to reprise his role as Master of Ceremonies, which will be awesome! Cabaret will open for previews at Studio 54 on March 21, 2014 and then to the public on April 24, 2014. Sam Mendes is directing.
I’ve only ever been to ONE Broadway show despite living in New York for about 12 years now (God, I’m getting old), and that was Wicked, which was great. Still, I wouldn’t mind seeing this! Have any of you ever seen Cabaret? Is it great?
