Last night Lady Gaga did a concert in London as part of an iTunes festival, meaning that if you have iTunes or the iTunes festival app, you could watch Gaga do her first live show in a bazillion years. Pretty incredible that we have the technology to watch live concerts across the world in real time in color on our cell phones. That amazed me more than her performance.
Jennifer and I watched it from across the country and we both had the same sense of, “WTF is this?” I liked her opening number but everything else was just so utterly meh. I loved the teasers we got for “Swine” and “MANiCURE“. It sounded like Gaga was going in a new and interesting direction. Something a little more raw and rock. But I didn’t get any of that in the actual show.
The worst part for me about the concert was her goddamn fans. Holy f-ck she has the most annoying fans EVER. They would NOT shut the f-ck up. She talked in between sets (which was also annoying, when she got into full on pretentious Gaga mode) and her stupid fans couldn’t be quiet for more than 2 seconds. Someone would shout, “I LOVE YOU GAGA!” or they would cheer after everything. It was so f-cking annoying. JUST SHUT UP AND LET HER SPEAK, JESUS CHRIST.
Gaga took off all of her wigs during the show and showed us her real hair and explained that it was a very personal thing for her to do. Above is a photo of her in another wig wearing what is apparently a bubble machine dress. She didn’t wear that during the show.
TL;DR: Gaga’s live show would have been 100x better without her fans present.
