  • i don’t really like miley cyrus at all, however i will totaly defend her in these pictures. shes fifteen, so what if she is kissing her boyfriend. as if nobody else did that when they were fifteen. how is she a slut for kissing her boyfriend? its not like she was kissing like, fifteen guys in one night. or sleeping with fifteen guys. this is what normal teenagers do, making out and kissing is harmless. however, i don’t agree with the pictures she took of herself like the ones where she was in her underwear, etcetc. but i kind of understand, everyone sees you as a baby when you’re a disney star. nobody treats you as if you’re fifteen, they all treat you as a kid. taking these pictures probably made her feel grown up and sexy, not little and just cute. i’m sixteen, and it happens to me. and it is very annoying when adults and older people still treat you as a child.

  • My nine year old daughter totally idolizes Miley Cyrus, and it doesn’t bother me at all. What’s not to like? She is young and fresh, and doesn’t aspire to be anything more than a pop singer. She has a good strong voice…if I were her parents I would want her to take voice lessons to develop it more (of course, she may already be taking voice lessons for all I know). I understand that the average onset of sexual activity these days is at age 12. By contemporary standards, I suspect that Miley is lagging behind her peers. We all posed for or took pictures for our friends such as the ones of Miley and her then boyfriend above in our youth. It is very adolescent, and that is what she is, an adolescent, experimenting with sex and longing to be grown up. I find her harmless. Too bad about the Esquire photographs, but for me that was an instance of Annie Leibowitz sexualing a child, and her idiot parents should not have allowed the exploitation. But since my nine year old daughter doesn’t read Esquire or, for that matter, frequent internet gossip sites it doesn’t play out as negative role modeling for her.

    When I look back at my childhood, I remember falling in love with the Beatles in 1964 at the age of nine or ten (yep, I’m that old), and it does seem sad that today’s kids don’t have a generation symbol of any substance, but all things considered, I can’t object to Miley as a role model for young girls. In fact, considering what could be, I am grateful!
