Is this real life? President Obama and Katy Perry had a lovely little twitter exchange last night during the MTV VMAs. Obama tweeted,
If you’re one of millions of young Americans w/out health insurance, you can get affordable coverage starting Oct. 1 http://OFA.BO/Healthcare
Which Katy then retweeted. Obama responded to that with,
Thanks for spreading the word. #ROAR MT @katyperry: RT @BarackObama: Get affordable coverage starting Oct. 1 http://OFA.BO/Healthcare
Damn, for better or worse, we’ve come a long way since the Reagan years. Never thought I’d see a President use social media so brilliantly.
Katy performed “Roar” last night at the show, right under the Brooklyn Bridge. I was underwhelmed, but I still love her dearly.

You know that it isn’t really him tweeting, right? Obama likely has a team of people working his Twitter.
Just checked – he’s supposed to sign his “authentic” tweets “-bo”. Turns out at least the last hundred or so tweets are not his, but by the Organizing for Action staff.
