Kelly Rowland, former Destiny’s Child singer and new X-Factor judge, got into a bit of a nightmare when she and her friends were stranded in the ocean for 12 hours. Not quite an Open Water scenario as they were on a boat, but scary nonetheless. Apparently everything was fine until a storm started and their position couldn’t be located. More from E Online:
The group originally set sail for a day of whale watching, when their vessel became “disoriented in the five-to-six-foot waves and fog that had rolled in,” an employee at TowboatUS Provincetown confirmed to E! News.
“The US Coast Guard was able to triangulate their position” after learning that the group needed help, the employee added.
The former Destiny’s Child singer, her friends and the crew arrived on land at around 10 p.m., after being at sea for 12 hours.
In the end, the entire group was said to be “tired and thankful,” the employee added.
“They just wanted to get off the boat.”
NO KIDDING. Hopefully Rowland has only…smooth sailing from now on. (YEEEEEAAAHH!!!)
Weirdly, Jayne Mansfield (you may know her as Mariska Hargitay‘s mom) was in a similar incident when she, Mickey Hargitay, and a friend were lost after a day of water skiing gone wrong. Stranded in the ocean, they swam to a beach where they were found the next day. You can read the original newspaper article on Google’s magazine archives.
