Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Okay, I Need Suggestions!!!!

You guys, this is what my foot looks like right now.

I have to be at the airport in about five hours. I cannot walk. I have done a great deal of tripping and hurting my foot in my life, but it has never been this bad. I literally cannot put any pressure on it without it hurting horribly. I have been hopping around Tiffany’s house on one leg since last night, and her downstairs neighbors are probably trying to get her evicted as we speak.

I called my mom and she suggested I call the airport and order a wheelchair. I am looking for any alternative. I don’t even know how to push a wheelchair. I have no upper body strength. I would just have to sit in the wheelchair and hope Leo could pull it.

Ideas, people???

  • crutches? or possibly delaying your flight and having a doctor look at it. it looks pretty swollen to me.

  • Beet,

Get the wheelchair. I don’t think Leo can push it. Also, I might suggest that you get the airport to put you on one of their motor rides. They do it all the time for people with injuries. Good luck Beet! I hope you get home safely.

  • Oh my God, sweetie, that looks terribly painful. Did you go to the hospital at all? Did you put ice on it to reduce the swelling? You need a bandage to immobilize your ankle and some crutches to help you walk.

  • I just sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago and your best bet would just be to go to a local clinic or walk in doctors office, but since you are out of town that may be hard. They gave me a split type thing and some crutches. if you can find those somewhere that will hold you over till you can get home.

  • That thing should be iced and elevated as long as possible, ice on 15 minutes off 1/2hr and back on, until you can get to a doc. If it’s not the other foot too, you have clearly sprained it, though that scratch could be worrisome too, it could have got infected(?)

  • Go see a doctor. Like, forget the plane and take care of that first. Or at least call Dr. Dad.

  • Cancel your flight go to the hospital!! Looks to me as if you broke it or worse yet tore some ligaments. Boy would that suck it hurts more than a broken ankle. Trust me I did this one time while walking around drunk downtown. Triped in a pot hole had to hop in a cab by the time I got to the hospital it looked like someone took a baseball bat to my foot. Not good!! So get your ass to the DR. now Ms. BEET!!!! I hope you feel better!!!

  • I agree get it looked at…if not treated properly it can cause years of annoying pain. Also, available are those motorized carts (look like golf carts) it’ll take you where you want if you’re on crutches.

  • Umm… Beet… why all this effort to NOT go to a Dr. or ER? When you can no longer see where your ankle is supposed to be because it has morphed into a new body part that somehow encompasses your foot and your shin/calf, it is in need of medical attention. Besides, NY hospitals seem to be having trouble with keeping mental patients alive and tended to, not goofballs who do not watch where they are walking, darling.

  • Beet you need to get to the ER. With the way it is swelling and the fact that you cut yourself you could very possibly indicate a Staph Infection, and that can kill yoi if you dont get antibiotics QUICK. Check if it is hot or warm to the touch and get to the ER immediately! Fly home after the dr. trip. Keep us updated on how you are doing!

  • Hey girl!

You really need to get that checked out. They will push the chair for you. so dont worry about that just get home and get better!

  • that shit is broken…. or like a 3rd degree sprain… which is really even worse then being broken… wrap it with a tensor bandage and keep it elevated and put a bad of frozen peas on it they work better then ice, suck it up and get a wheel chair at the airport, the flight attendants will help you, no sense in wounding leo too, and make a doctors appointment for when you get home…asap

  • there should be someone there to push you. if you can’t stand at all and it’s swollen like that i’d suggest you get an x-ray asap…i’d suspect something broken. as said above, keep it elevated, keep cold compresses on it and take ibuprofen and naproxen, they help not only to reduce pain but also inflammation.

sorry you’re having all this trouble. :(

  • hate to be the bearer of bad news sister, but that bitch is BROKEN. looked just like my foot a year ago when i broke mine. sorry. the upside, is the you get percoset. :)

  • I have fibromyalgia and live in constant pain. You could do what I do. Which is suck it up.

  • Beet, hon, I’m a little concerned about you flying with your foot in that condition. Feet and legs commonly swell during flight (I just verified that by googling “swelling while flying”). That might complicate your condition even more. I would really get it checked out by a doctor if I were you. I’ve had this happen a couple of times – once turned out to be a break and one was a sprain. Either way a proper wrap or support needs to be placed on it. If nothing else, I would at least get a doctor’s opinion about flying with it in that condition. I hope you feel better soon – keep us updated! Love to you and Leo!

  • With the little cut seen and the immense swelling and the excruciating pain, it’s very possible you have contracted a staph infection. Let’s hope not because that can take a bit of time to overcome. Did you trip, fall, bang your foot on something…It’s just that little cut above the little toe that is alarming…

  • Ok…just saw your previous post that you tripped and possibly sprained your foot…that’s much better than staph. Get yourself to a doctor where you can get a healthy dose of anti-inflamatories and pain killers(i love me some pain killers). Ice it, elevate it and it should be good within a few days. Good luck and feel better.

  • Wow Beet you should really get to the ER this looks terrible. I just sprained my ankle a few days ago (some idiot at a concert tried to crowd surf nobody catched him and he fell directly on my ankle). Mine is swollen but not as bad as yours, I think it might be broken you should really get that ankle checked ASAP!

  • Go to a clinic and get some anti-inflammation drugs.
Get the wheel-chair because someone will push you anyway.
Even get your friend to help you?
Ask the clinic for crutches also so you can get around.
If the pain and swelling don’t subside in a week then you’re going to have to go to the hospital.

  • Guys .. Crutches? with bags to carry???? and Leo too? impossible.
Wheelchair .. BUT first … get to the ER and make sure it’s not broken.
    Good Luck Beet.

  • I say amputate STAT!!! That’s your only hope. ;0) Good luck getting through the airport. I would definitely get some motorized transport while you’re there. I will keep my fingers crossed that you don’t have any kind of rushed, rushed connecting flights, what a bitch that would be.

  • No suggestion, just sympathy. Oh dear!!! Your pedicure looks cute though. There is nothing worse than having a foot injury when your feet are not dolled up.

  • looks like Grade III sprain to me, ligaments involved I mean
this means foot splint up to knee and crutches
ice packs periodically and limb elevated
    care for wound
cannot bear weight on that foot
painkillers plus ibuprofen 400 mg 2 or 3id
3 weeks before it heals, 5 weeks worst cases
you can have someone push the wheelchair at airport on request
    you can fly
    there’s nothing there agaist that

  • I broke my tarsal bones in a roll over, I didn’t go to the er for 3 days, and my foot had to rebroken.

  • DEAR HOLLY-MYALGIA

FIBROMYALGIA YOU SAY? What fucking bullshit … that “disease” is what all FAT LAZY PIGS claim to have so they can lay on the couch all day in elastic-waisted sweatpants eating Hot Pockets and Doritos.

  • k this definitely happened to one of my feet in like 2004… i couldn’t move it or walk for like 3 weeks it was so painful.

anyways after about 3 different hospitals and a heap of xrays and scans and blood tests not a single doctor had any good answer for me and to this day my foot is still swollen. it doesnt hurt anymore, but its still swollen up.

i’m praying for your foot, beet. haha i hope you don’t end up with one messed up foot cuz it makes buying heels so sad. :(

  • Hey B*THCY…….You are an uneducated piece of shit. Stick your rabid rage of your nasty ass. And since fibromyalgia isn’t real according to you, I hope you get a nice big fat taste of it. Go fuck yourself while you’re waiting.

  • Sweetie, Your foot looks like its broken, which looks normal. I had a broken foot for six weeks thinking it was just sore or a sprain. It was tip of the 5th metatarsal bone. How and where It happened we’ll never know, but I was in a cast for 6 weeks and it never healed. Then they cut the tip of the bone out.
    best wishes… M

  • I hurt my foot once and itlooked EXACTLY like that. I didn’t have any kind of break but it sure as hell looked like it. Anyway, I figured out that after a couple of days if I wrapped it really tight with an ace bandage and wore a shoe laced very tight that it held it in place and really didn’t hurt to walk on. Since you are going to have to be on the move… maybe it will help. Good luck!

  • Go directly to the ER. Didn’t you have a bite on your leg last week? Need Treatment right away!

  • I’ve had fibro since I was a skinny teen, thank you very much. it’s incredibly painful and debilitating, and god knows there are worse things that having it, but you have no idea what it’s like until it takes you over. but i managed to go to collage, get two degrees and have a great job and i don’t sit on the couch all day in elastic waistband pants eating junk food. not all folks with fibro are fat. christ, what an ignorant bitch you are. you probably think people with Alzheimer’s just don’t want to bother with remembering stuff.

  • I shattered my foot badly in a dance class last August, and the first doctor I went to panicked, wanted to do surgery, etc. Then I went to a foot doctor who specializes in athletes and dancers. This was two weeks after the accident, and I was wearing a shorty cast and it was time for it to come off. He x-rayed it and told me to start walking on it (wearing Tevas) as if I were a caveman. In other words, the foot would heal on its own. I got rid of the crutches, and hobbled around for quite awhile, and now I am back in class five days a week. The pain was intense the first 2-4 weeks. I started back with private pilates once a week, to exercise the foot. Also got some toe stretchers. Everything has helped. But you may have to buy all new shoes! (I went up a half size…). Also, take therapeutic doses of MSM (powder form, mixed in juice–1-3 tbsps a day). Tastes bitter, but will help with the pain.

    best!

    HAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • yea, you broke it. the same thing happened to me 2 years ago, i was just walking normal and i tripped…real smooth.
I didnt go to the doctor for a week because i figured it was a bad spain so I just used my old crutches to get around.
Then i went to visit my mother who freaked out and forced me to go to the ER at like midnight. When the doctor saw it he said : “yup! you broke it in 2 places, you need to have surgery at 8am” Now i have a metal implant and 8 screws in my ankle.
Dont wanna freak you out but you should get it checked, dont be silly like me. The doctor said if had waited 2 more days he woul have had to re-brake it in order to fix it.

  • That looks pretty bad.. I would stay off of it for a couple of weeks and just sit in front of the computer of tv. It can be done… But if you HAVE to go out and spend $50 in gas to get a ice latte, I would have a couple friends pushing me around. Maybe smoke a j.

  • Damn, I had to work long hours all week and missed this post.

I would have simply typed: Amputation!

  • YO B*THCY (at least you picked the right id): You’re absolutely pathetic with your comments about fibromyalgia and attempting to pick on those with it. You know nothing about fibromyalgia, obviously. If it weren’t a real condition, why is the CDC studying it. Oh, and CDC stands for Centers for Disease Control you ignorant pig.

Come on say something else about fibro, I dare ya. Bring it, you lame excuse for something that can type. One burrito short of a fiesta you are!!!

Fibromyalgia is real. If you think you may have it, please consult a rheumotologist or local support group. There is help available to cope with the symptoms. Research is ongoing for a cure. For more information, check out http://www.webmd.com under fibromyalgia. They have some very good information.
