We all want our partners to care about us and be proud of being with us, but jealousy is not a good look when it makes you crazy. I should know because I’m a pretty jealous person in relationships (it’s something I’ve had to learn to keep in check, with varying levels of success) and no one wants to be with someone who smothers them and is constantly afraid their significant other is going to go out and find someone better. Keep accusing them of it and they’ll probably do exactly that. Anyway, this all seems like common sense for any adult human who’s been in more than one relationship, but Scarlett Johansson wants us to know that she, too, doesn’t like jealousy.
From Marie Claire:
“I don’t mind an occasional check-in, but when somebody is passive-aggressively jealous, it’s really unattractive because it shows a sort of insecurity,” she said.
“Oh, controlling behavior is awful. Nobody’s going to say they love that.”
That’s right, Scarlett. No one is going to say they like that – very astute observation.
I’m being hard on her, really – I don’t mind Scarlett Johansson and obviously she didn’t bring the topic up out of nowhere, she was asked about relationships (of course). Speaking of relationships, how does she feel about ex-husband Ryan Reynolds, who’s now re-married to Blake Lively?
“Well, it wasn’t that long ago. But I think I’ve had a fair amount of time to process the experience and be able to move forward. I continue to get to know myself better as I get older, and that helps me in my relationships.”
Fair enough.
