If you were just about at the end of your 12-step program to forget Sarah Palin exists in this world, I’m sorry to bring you back down again. The former Alaskan governor and VP candidate has found another way to ruin your life: by ruining Christmas and writing a book about how much more Jesus it needs.
A Happy Holiday Is a Merry Christmas will include some private Palin family Christmas activities/observances and will probably make you hate the month of December if you look at it, so I’d avoid it. Here’s what she said about the project in a statement:
“Amidst the fragility of this politically correct era, it is imperative that we stand up for our beliefs before the element of faith in a glorious and traditional holiday like Christmas is marginalised and ignored.
“This will be a fun, festive, thought provoking book, which will encourage all to see what is possible when we unite in defense of our faith and ignore the politically correct Scrooges who would rather take Christ out of Christmas.”
Listen lady, Christmas shopping is the biggest coup for the retail industry in history, so the holiday is hardly “marginalised and ignored”, nor are the people who celebrate it. Second of all, ever heard of “freedom of religion”? That means that not everyone shares your beliefs about Baby Jesus and angels and whatever other stuff floats your boat. You’re free to observe however you wish, of course, and hopefully you and your loved ones enjoy those celebrations, but to act like you’re “ignored” for being a Christian is bullshit. If it were true, your Christian values wouldn’t be attempting to tell women how to govern their own bodies, couples who can and cannot get married… I mean, need I go on?
All that being said, I’m a Christmas freak. I love the music, the movies, the twinkly lights, THE FOOD, the wrapping of presents, all of it. But I don’t love it for religious reasons – he’s hardly the “reason for the season” for most people these days – but because it’s great to have the day off work and spend time with people you love, getting fat on delicious food and exchanging gifts. That’s enough for me.
Oh, and Sarah Palin is the worst.
Are you serious? He’s hardly the reason for the season? (and you didn’t even capitalize He!) He is the SOLE
SOLE reason for the season! Shame on you! And, I think that’s her point….Christmas as a celebration of his birth is marginalized. Society is pushing CHRIST out of Christmas! You really are a nitwit.
He IS the reason for the season, but I think your message is getting lost in the delivery… It isn’t a very Christian thing to run around calling people names to get your point across.
You should brush up on your history. December 25th was the celebration date of the Roman Winter Solstice. The Roman Emperor Constantine kept quite a few of the Roman pagan holidays in an effort to make the transition to Christianity (which was essentially a political move) easier. A lot of Christian holidays have pagan roots. It’s funny, actually.
I still celebrate Christmas, though I’m agnostic. It’s just a nice time to be able to come together with family and whatnot, regardless of its background.
Hey Amos, can we chat? I don’t think you really got what Jennifer was laying down here. So you see lots and lots of Christians are really fired up about honoring and celebrating Jesus and his birth for Christmas. That’s awesome and it should be noted that in our great country you are totally free to do that. But see what’s not cool is that your isn’t the only belief out there and Jesus isn’t the only thing celebrated for a lot of OTHER people. What’s great about America is that there is room for all of us, but what’s also great is neither side gets to claim the exclusive use of December as a celebration. Christians get to celebrate Christ, and non-Christians celebrate Christmas. You may have beliefs for that day to be tied to Jesus, but lots and lots of people dont. You don’t get to tell them they are wrong and you don’t get to tell them they are required to celebrate Jesus either. I’m pretty sure you get that right?
Am I the only one around here who is missing Leann Rimes?
No, you’re not alone. I mostly miss Leann Rimes for the guaranteed Chaz and Guest Show that accompanied the story.
Lmao… I miss the crazy known as guest too!
I love Christ and absolutely hate Christmas. Scraping together gifts for people you don’t even like and presents that don’t mean anything… The commercialization of the holiday has overshadowed the significance of it. Plus, my mother was a real bitch, so it just made it a real struggle to get through the season that was supposed to be happy with someone who really made a point of making me feel like shit.
Just read

Not to mention the irony of bitching about the commercialization of Christmas by… hawking a book you wrote.
Some surprisingly sensible comments here. ’nuff sed.
Wow! That post could have come straight from by brain! We’re kindred spirits! And hell to the yeah, Sarah Palin is the WORST.
*my*
If Ms. Palin and the others who constantly complain about losing the “reason for the season” truly want Christmas to be a solely religious holiday and not also a secular/commercial celebration, then we should remove Christmas Day from the calendar of government holidays. No other religious holiday is included on it. We would also need to ditch the national Christmas tree, decorating the White House for Christmas, every single Nativity scene or any other decoration on any public property, school, etc. that has any specific ties to Christmas, and so on. Otherwise, her stance is hypocritical, and she would have to spend every Martin Luther King Day working for civil rights to even start to justify it.
Truth!
“Bah, humbug!” Sarah Palin, you jack-ass!!! She ain’t touchin’ my egg-nog (it has rum-pa-pum-pum in it) and if she goes anywhere near my chocolate Easter eggs, I’ll shove a fertility goddess totem up her ass!
Someone essentially help to make significantly articles I’d state. This is the first time I frequented your web page and up to now? I surprised with the research you made to make this particular submit extraordinary. Great process!
I liked as much as you’ll receive carried out proper here. The sketch is tasteful, your authored material stylish. however, you command get got an impatience over that you would like be delivering the following. in poor health for sure come further beforehand again since precisely the similar just about very ceaselessly inside case you shield this hike.
The author of this article stands corrected especially on one point. The author said Sarah Palin is wrong for feeling ignored about Christmas. The author of this article missed the point altogether. It’s a matter of persecution against Christians. If you go to public school of any kind, you attend a science class, the teacher espouses evolution and you simply respectfully disagree, that you believe in Creationism instead, you will be expelled from school, sued by the public school system or both. If you think I’m wrong, I dare you to go pretend to be a Creationist believer in public science classes. When they boot you out, sue you or both, you’ll find out the hard way I’m right. Or, I dare you to just mix and mingle with society nowadays, pretending to be a devout Christian expressing your faith freely like Jesus said to do. Have SWAT armor on when you do: you’ll need it when anti-Christian forces throughout society come after you. Again, you’ll find out the hard way I’m right if you take me up on that dare Those are only the first two examples of anti-Christian movements in this country and around the world. This post might be lengthy. But because I’m a Palin supporter who has studied Church/State relations a good bit, I could teach a course on it a good while. So I hope you get my point on a very challenging issue nowadays.
