F-CK. THAT. is all I really have to say about that business. And I’ll say it again, just in case the first time wasn’t quite clear enough: F-CK! THAT! Also, have you guys heard? Lady Gaga just came out and stated that she’s battled bulimia and anorexia since she was fifteen years old. Fifteen.
From MTV:
On Tuesday (September 25), she launched a page titled A Body Revolution 2013 on her Little Monsters site, encouraging fans to embrace and share their flaws.
“My mother and I created the BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION for one reason: “to inspire bravery,” Gaga said on the site. “This profile is an extension of that dream. Be brave and celebrate with us your ‘perceived flaws,’ as society tells us. May we make our flaws famous, and thus redefine the heinous.” In another post, the singer wrote, “Now that the body revolution has begun, be brave and post a photo of you that celebrates your triumph over insecurities.”
Mother Monster was the first to upload photos. In the first of four pictures, she stands in just a yellow bra and underwear with a revealing caption: “Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15.”
In the next one, Gaga has her arms outstretched showing off her figure, and this caption is written underneath: “But today I join the BODY REVOLUTION.”
In the third photo, Gaga is in a similar position but with arms over her head. The description reads “to inspire bravery.” She poses in a thong with her backside to the camera in the final pic, adding the message, “and BREED some M$therf*cking COMPASSION.”
Can I tell you how beautiful I think all of this is? Because it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s sheer beauty. If that wasn’t ENOUGH beauty for you, here’s some more—an excerpt from a post Lady Gaga herself wrote about accepting herself just the way she is (and why you should feel so, so good about yourself, too):
“I have been startled and overwhelmed with pride and emotion the past few days. Gratitude mostly. Seeing you post photos of things on your bodies and in your minds that you feel society tells you you should be ashamed of. You are showing them you have no shame. My weight/loss/gain since i was child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But YOU have. My boyfriend prefers me curvier, when i eat and am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I’m happy. Happier then I’ve ever been. i am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny. This is who I am. And I am proud at any size. And i love you, and want you to be proud in any form you may take as well.”
Now, putting all notions of “STOP FAT ACCEPTANCE” and “ENCOURAGING OBESITY” aside, because I don’t even want to hear that bullshit right now, wow. What an amazing message Lady Gaga’s sending with all of this business. What a wonderful thing to encourage—to be proud of yourself, as a person, no matter what you look like, how heavy or thin you are, how many scars you have inside and out, or how you come across to others. Just. be. proud.
Can we all just agree, right now, that even though Lady Gaga might not make the best music out there (because Lady Gaga just does not make the best music out there), she’s probably one of the best celebrities going?
Go Gaga! Plus, she has a great butt in those photos!
I’m loving the whole thing. :)
As a kid, my mother’s love depended entirely on how slim and pretty I remained, and it was very painful. (Think Mommie Dearest.)
Now as a woman, I feel entirely free from that, and the happiness inside and out when compared to that past is amazing, like a whole new life. Hard to describe. And when you’re happy you look good anyway, which doesn’t suck. :)
Wire hangers, bitch.
heheheh That’s an awesome quote. :D
I think if I’d been left alone when I was a fat preteen and not reminded about how fat I was everyday(i did have a mirror), I might not have had such a roller coaster yo-yo life with the weight issue. So, shut it guys, she will work it out however it makes her happy. Need to quit harping on every little pound a celebrity might gain and just say how good looking they are when they are looking good.
Who are you actually telling to shut it, since we all like what she’s been saying?
I’m telling the guys who are complaining about her weight to shut it.
Ah cool :)
I’ll never “shut it”. A fat, bulging belly hanging over a bikini bottom that has become about 3 sizes too small is repulsive. Be comfortable in your skin…but make sure your clothing doesn’t remain in denial…..especially if you’re onstage.
Great for her. No I really think that’s great and the message she’s sending but I don’t believe that she feels comfortable..
She has a concert tonight in Switzerland where I live and it was all over the news today that she FORBID any cameras, so there will be no professional photographers from any local magazine or tv station allowed. Only thing that is allowed are the phones of the fans (no other cameras)..
Which is kinda weird, why would she care about it if she loved her body now?
Yet she lets her “Little Monsters” rag on Adele. She is such Bullshit she not even fat it’s just more attention-whoring.
…and there’s still that fur problem
I think she lost weight for the bikini photos, despite her statement.
