Oh Emma Watson. I just don’t even know how some people can get along in the world not being Emma Watson, because to be Emma Watson is to be divine.
Here’s Emma, in the latest issue of Glamour UK, on “accepting her shape”:
“I’ve accepted my body shape more as I’ve got older. I went through a stage of wanting to have that straight-up-and-down model look, but I have curves and hips, and in the end you have to accept yourself as you are.”
And here’s darling Emma on weight fluctuation since her body’s matured, and how she’s not built like a doll:
“My weight has fluctuated between a size 6 and a 10. When you’re growing, your body is still figuring itself out and it takes a while to settle down. I keep telling myself that I’m a human being, an imperfect human being who’s not made to look like a doll, and that who I am as a person is more important than whether at that moment I have a nice figure.”
On a side note, if she’s talking British sizes, and I’m pretty sure she is, considering the fact that the Glamour interview was in Glamour UK, then she’s saying that she fluctuates between a US size 2 and a US size 6. Which is great, you know, if you’re an “average woman,” but that upper end of size 6 is apparently bad, bad, bad, and FAT FATTY FATTERSON if you’re in Hollywood. Please.
Emma on unrealistic expectations from women (and by women, too):
“It makes me sad to hear girls constantly putting themselves down. We have these unbelievably high expectations of ourselves, when actually we’re human beings and out bodies have a function. We say that the pressure is coming from men but actually it’s from each other. I think women feel so much pressure these days and it can turn us against each other. But we really damage our own confidence when we put ourselves down, so I try not to.”
And last, Emma on relationships, and how her opinion of relationships has evolved over the last few years:
“You accept the love that you think you deserve. I would have approached my relationships completely differently if they had. I like this idea of quality control – that we don’t have to accept just anyone into our lives. People talk about love as though it just happens to you – as though you’re a victim in it all, when actually you can make good choices and bad. But women have a natural tendency to want to nurture and take care of men. I tend to date people who are quite introspective. I like deep thinkers.”
I don’t know, guys. I think Emma’s pretty damn near perfect, if you ask me. She’s got a lovely figure (although I don’t get all the worry and contemplation about curves and what not if you’re a size 2 or 4 or even 6, really), she’s a sweet girl, and she’s got her head on straight. And may I remind you that girlfriend is only twenty-two years old? Because girlfriend is only twenty-two years old.
Can we just get a few more Emmas in the world? Please?
agreed. I love her <3
I completely agree. She’s gorgeous, talented, and flawless.
I wish she acts half as much as she talks. She’s quite a snub for someone who cannot act.
That is . . . not accurate.
No, girl really can’t act. She’s cute though, she can get away with it.
Kiara is right. She’s not as bad as some other actors *cough* Kristen Stewart *cough* but she’s not fantastically talented. Mostly she was just lucky to get a part in the most successful movie franchise ever, which is bound to get you jobs elsewhere. Much like kiera Knightley, she gets by on a nice speaking voice and good looks. But she seems like a lovely girl.
