The film’s name has been changed, because prior to being called ‘Killing Them Softly’, it was called ‘Cogan’s Trade’, which was a really, really bad working title for a movie. It’s just total cheeseball. There’ve been too many movies made and gigantic advancements achieved in creativity to call a movie ‘Cogan’s Trade’ when the main character in the movie is called Jackie Cogan, and it’s about a crime dude. Because come on. The book that the film is based on was called ‘Cogan’s Trade’. AMP IT UP.
Anyway, it looks OK, and it was filmed in Brad‘s adopted town of New Orleans, and the production design is just perfect.
Here’s the synopsis:
Jackie Cogan is a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that went down during a mob-protected poker game.
Plus, Johnny Cash? ‘When the Man Comes Around’? Even though this movie is *so* not my particular cup of tea, wow. What a production this turned out to be, you know? I swear, Brad Pitt can play any role at all and pull it off with astounding results, and that’s one of the many, many reasons he is so beloved by me.
