Remember that sticking-a-gun-in-her-mouth photo shoot that Lindsay recently did with Terry Richardson? Well. People are not happy about it, and I don’t just mean Dr. Derp Drew. No, various suicide prevention alliances have come forward and condemned Lindsay for her—wait for it, wait for it—bad judgement, and have said that her actions are completely inappropriate behavior for a “celebrity” to engage in. From E! Online:
“When a celebrity uses suicide and specifically the means to do it as a joke, it is grossly irresponsible and is a disgrace,” Hopeline, a national suicide hotline organization, said an exclusive statement to E! News. “It also must be met with an immediate rebuke from the mental-health community. This is no joking matter. Lives are at stake.
“We are outraged that Lindsay Lohan and her support system [have] shown such ignorance and lack of care in her use of suicide as a promotional tool to attempt to gain public attention,” the statement continued. “More importantly, she and the rest of the United States should know that using this type of modeling behavior in a public way could cause irreparable harm and even suicide by its cavalier use.”
Others in the mental health field claim that this was yet another cry for help on Lindsay’s part, but I think she’s even beyond that. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence also has a piece to say:
“This is not to be taken lightly. If these photos are her attempt to reach out for help, we as a community also need to be there for her. I don’t know if these photos represent a cry for help, or just an exercise in incredibly bad taste, but Lindsay should know that these photos will bring tears to the loved ones of the 18,000 Americans who kill themselves with guns every year,” said the organization’s Vice President, Dennis Henigan. “Lindsay should get rid of the gun and help spread the life-saving message that countless suicides could be prevented if more Americans did the same.”
Now I’m not all PC-police and what not, but I have to agree that these photos were definitely sick and not at all artsy. They were sad, shocking, and inappropriate—especially coming from someone who we all totally thought would be dead by her twenty-sixth birthday as it is.
Oh, and speaking of which? Happy Birthday, asshole.
“happy birthday asshole” – I love it.
This is the best happy birthday post ever! Hahaha!
I thought that first picture was Janeane Garofalo or Jewels Jade (DO NOT google Jewels Jade. She’s a porn star…)
Man. Poor Lindsay looks like crap. Her MOTHER looks better than she does.
Supposedly, she was still in her Liz makeup. I hope lifetime finally wises up. With all the crap she’s given the production, I can’t imagine the free publicity has been worth it.
The director, however, is probably doing handstands as this TV drama has TONS of national publicity.
Is it wrong that Lifetime and the producers might be taking advantage of the human train-wreck to promote their crappy TV bio?
Her career is so dead.
Hopefully, no one will take a photo of a celebrity who is already a plastic surgery casualty at age 26 (she was so damn pretty before!), too seriously.
Does she even still have enough of a fan base to even be much of an influence anymore?
Actually, watching how she’s managed her life so far might, contrary to what suicide prevention orgs are proposing, be a “how to guide” to not end up in a suicidal dead end.
The pictures weren’t a cry for help. They’re totally for the ‘look at me, look at me’ value. Standard and typical behaviour for Ms White Trash.
