This is a sweet little story, you guys, it really is, and it made me like Kristen Stewart even more. It also made me realize perhaps why I have this sudden tolerance bordering on admiration for her. Check out this interview she did with Celebuzz, then we’ll talk about it, all right?
Celebuzz has been with the entire cast of Snow White and the Huntsman for the past few days in London, England, for the big world premiere! During our sit down with star Kristen Stewart, who plays Snow White, we started talking about another phenomenon… Fifty Shades of Grey.
The sexy novel — that has been acquired by Universal Studios in a movie deal — was based off of her and boyfriend Robert Pattinson‘s characters Edward Cullen and Bella Swan from the Twilight novels. Knowing this, could Kristen ever see her and Rob starring in Fifty Shades?
Kristen told us about her hopes to work with Rob again:
“I haven’t read the book yet– so I don’t know,” she said when asked if she could picture herself and Rob playing these roles.
In case you don’t know about Fifty Shades of Grey, Anastasia Steele (based off of Stewart’s character) is a student who falls for Christian Grey, a 27-year-old gorgeous rich entrepreneur who introduces her into his erotic world of S&M. Although Kristen couldn’t say one way or the other about taking on the role, she was clear she wants to work with Pattinson, 26, again.
“I’m dying to make another movie with Rob, I think that we’re a good team,” Kristen added. “I think whatever it is needs to be so ridiculously ambitious. So maybe! I just haven’t read it, so I don’t know what it is, but I would love to work with him again.”
That’s not all Kristen talked with us about…
Currently, Stewart is starring in Snow White and the Huntsman (out June 1) — and in this version of Snow White her character doesn’t need a man to feel powerful. Celebuzz asked Kristen if she thought society places too much pressure on women needing to be in relationships to be happy:
“I think that girls place too much importance on that. I think that also that’s a natural instinct, i don’t think that it’s too much of a problem. I think, what I like about this, it’s super on trend right now to have strong girl power movies. I think it’s cool [Snow White] feels like such a girl, yet she’s super strong. The whole guy situation– it’s a war movie. Things are happening way too fast to even consider a love triangle. Everyone thinks, ‘What’s happening with the Prince, Hutsman, and Snow White? It’s like, are you kidding me? We’re all at war! It doesn’t matter right now.”
Did I tell you guys that I finished Fifty Shades of Grey? Because I did and it was absolutely amazing. I started the second book too, but I got halfway through it and needed a break. Probably because it actually tried to have a plot. But listen, that book was such an incredible gift. I laughed so much. Nearly every single page contained something that made me laugh out loud. And the protagonist, Anastasia, the girl based on Bella, is Kristen Stewart, without a doubt. That’s who I pictured when I read the book, and she could definitely play that role. I think she’d like to play it as well, I think she’d have fun. I also think that’s why I like her so much more now: when I think of her, I think of that book, and I laugh. It’s been wonderful.
But Robert Pattinson as Christian, I don’t know about all that. I think it’s because he’s such a disjointed character, you know? In the book, Ana describes him as “moody” frequently, but that’s not it, it’s like he snaps into all these different people. It’s not really believable to me that he’d have all these different personalities, but for what it’s worth, Rob could definitely play at least one of them.
What do you guys think? Have you read the book? Any casting ideas?
I read the first several pages of 50 Shades of Grey. You all know it’s an absolute piece of garbage, don’t you? That, as far as form, a 7 year old could’ve written it?
I read the first book in like, 2 days. I’m at a bit of a stand-still right now in the second. The writing is repetitive, amateur, and all together god awful. But shamefully, I’m still reading. If Kristen Stewart plays Ana I swear to god she will ruin the character just like she did Bella. I could actually envision Rob P playing Christian just because I think he’s hot, but hopefully they’ll go with someone else who actually possesses acting chops.
kristen give it up on making a movie with robert i think he would be to afarid to fall in the same trap of the hysterical fans get on with your life you are to good for him love and good luck
I think Sebastian Stan from Captain America would be a good fifty
Yes!! I love Sebastian Stan! He would make a GREAT Fifty. Good thinking!
Ed Westwick most definitely as Christian. I guess Kristen Stewart fits. I see it. But I would prefer an unknown I think.
Oh and by the way I sure as hell hope a seven year old couldn’t think of the things in that book. Sure it’s not great literature but it works on a pulp fiction level. There is a time and place for everything. If you hate it you can put it down.
