Well that was pretty fast, huh? Remember the one chick that Ashton was busted hanging out with overseas? The chick he said was ‘just a friend’? Sources are saying that the girl, Lorene Scafaria, is way, way more than a friend, and the two have been inseparable for weeks now, despite the fact that Demi is rumored to be out of rehab and back at her LA home. From the Daily Mail:
The two were first spotted touring Italy together over the holidays, immediately after his wife of five years announced their split. Though his spokesperson insisted they were platonic friends, a slew of recent reports have more than suggested otherwise.
RadarOnline.com says that the handsome star took Scafaria, 33, to Madonna’s post-Oscar party last weekend.
Screenwriter Scafaria is best known for her work on the 2008 film Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist.
She is also good friends with fellow writers Diablo Cody (Juno) and Dana Fox (What Happens in Vegas), who she collaborates with in their writing group they call the “Fempire”.Scafaria is currently working on her directorial debut for her self-penned script Seeking A Friend for the End of the World a romantic comedy that focuses on one man’s quest for a meaningful connection amid the ‘end of days’.
Us Weekly reported the two engaged in some public kissing at a charity event on February 25.
An insider tells the magazine: “They were affectionate. When they thought no one was watching, they held hands, and she rubbed his back and his neck.”
Oh, OK! Now I get who this chick is. We ran the trailer for the Steve Carrell movie just, what, last week? Sure, it is. As I said then, too, it looks like it’s going to be a pretty good movie, even if this Scafaria chick is one silly girl for involving herself with someone like Ashton Kutcher.
What I really want to talk about, though, is the fact that Ashton has moved on so quickly, and so publicly. A lot of you guys might think that I’m defending him here, but let me reassure you – I’m not – but I’m going to play the devil’s advocate for just one minute here. Let’s pretend for a second that Ashton *didn’t* cheat on Demi, and he *wasn’t* busted for infidelity on his wedding anniversary. Let’s *also* pretend that Ashton didn’t help drive his estranged, soon-to-be-ex-wife into rehab for substance abuse issues, self-esteem problems, and anorexia. Let’s pretend that all of that didn’t happen, and it was just another broken Hollywood marriage that ended the way most broken Hollywood marriages end.
Would people then be so quick to say, “Oh! My God! He’s moved on so fast, and in such a public way!” Would people actually be giving this story even an iota’s worth of noting, or would it just be all ‘whatever’? Personally, I think it’d be all ‘whatever’, because frankly, it’s nothing for people to move on so quickly in real life, regardless of whether or not they helped send their significant others to rehab.
