Avril Lavigne Put Her Big Girl Clothes on for ‘Goodbye’

Hey, Avril! How’s it going, girl? Still making shitty music? Still looking all like Bat Boy and stuff? Good for you. Awesome to see that no matter what the year is, some things never change, or go out of style for you. I love what you’ve done with your hair. And your clothes, and your makeup. Wait, what’s that? You haven’t done anything with your hair or your makeup or your clothes since when? 2002? Oh, OK. Well, hey. Gotta stick with what works, right?

One thing that I can always count on is you – being just the way you are and reminding me of the summer of ’02. Back when I was a mere nineteen years old. Thanks so much for making me feel so young and carefree, girlfriend. It really is good to know that you haven’t changed one (thing about yourself or your music or your face or your style or your boyfriends or your posse or your your your your your your your even a little) bit.

Oh, and do you guys love the new video and song? Do you?

  • 1. Obvious begging to have people keep buying her album, buying her songs, buying her concert tickets. That is what means so much. Not whether people love the music. Whether they buy it.
    2. I couldn’t get past the first 1.5 minutes of the song. What? Write 20% of the lyrics you need to have a song and just repeat them to fill it out?
    3. Her 18 year old schtick was cute when she was 18. She isn’t anymore.
    4. What is precocious in an 18 year old is not even impressive in a 28 year old.

  • I think since her last record flopped, and there is no budget anymore that her label wants to risk on her…girls gotta do stuff that’s cheap! Taking off clothes=cheap/free, music video that anyone could get anybody to film for them= cost of motel room at the La Quinta Inn. Shooting in black and white= no need to splurge on a spray tan= so FREE.

  • You did better than me Pufinstuf I didn’t make it past the “leave you aaaaloooone” refrain.

I agree, she needs to let her image catch up with her real age and start hiring some new songwriters. She could probably have a decent career if she stopped pretending she is still 18.

  • Wow she just cannot act at all can she? Bless her.

I don’t really understand the marketing concept behind her gig. If she never grows up then her fans will always outgrow her and she will always have to keep trying to make new pre-teen fans. Or is impressing kids in the short term easier than keeping them interested long term?

I wonder if there is anyone out there Avril’s age who has been a fan from day one and is still a fan?
