Do you see that little dog up there? That’s Uggie. He’s in The Artist, that movie that’s been winning all the awards. He’s been everywhere lately, and while I still haven’t seen The Artist, I do recognize the ability cute dogs like Uggie have to cheer up the world. With all the awful things that have happened this weekend, and with today featuring story after story about Whitney Houston, I thought that now would be a good time to share with you the cutest dogs that have ever been in the movies. You’re excited, right?
5. Marley from Marley and Me
I just saw Marley and Me a couple of weeks ago, mostly because whenever I mentioned wanting to see it, whoever I mentioned it to told me not to watch it. I’m a crier, and everyone knows this. But my boyfriend found a used copy for a few bucks and got it for me, and we watched it, and yes, I bawled my eyes out. I cried for hours. It was such a heartwarming little movie, and didn’t hurt that Marley was unbelievably precious throughout his whole entire life.
4. Beethoven from Beethoven
LOOK AT THIS DOG. I’m always a sucker for big dogs, and, well, that’s Beethoven! Sadly, it’s been ages since I’ve seen this movie, but I can’t talk about dog movies without mentioning Beethoven, can I?
3. Hercules from The Sandlot
Speaking of big dogs, I couldn’t forget The Beast. After all, heroes get remembered, but legends never die. Hercules is definitely a legend, and I will love him and this movie forever. For-ev-er.
2. Otis from Milo and Otis
Honorable mentions go to Milo, the hedgehog, and the egg.
1. Petey from The Little Rascals
You would be probably be shocked to hear how many times I have seen The Little Rascals, and you would probably be more shocked to hear how many times I have seen it in the past few months. But it’s a damn good movie, and I never get tired of it. And, obviously, Petey here is one of the cutest dogs that’s ever been. Then again, I have such a soft spot for pit bulls, and to support this, I’ve added in a picture of the precious little puppy that I fostered for a few months, because he could be a movie star too.
Did I forget anybody? I’m sure I did, because it’s not like there are only five cute dogs that have ever been in movies. I guess the more appropriate thing would be to ask you who you think the cutest dogs in film are, right?
omg, you forgot that cute little thingie that made jack nicholson grow a heart in “as good as it gets”
also the jack russel in “beginners” is really cuuuuute
Benji!!!
On a snowy winter’s night, Laurel and Hardy try to keep their pet dog ‘Laughing Gravy’ hidden from their landlord, mostly without success. The landlord eventually orders them to leave, but fate takes a hand.
I had the same reaction with Marley and me.
No hachiko dog?
What about Shiloh (the beagle)?
Signed by a former beagle owner :)
