“I’ve never seen magazine covers or music videos and been like ‘I need to look like that to be a success.’ I don’t want to be some skinny mini with my tits out. I really don’t want to do it and I don’t want people confusing what it is that I’m about. I just stand there and sing. I don’t do stunts or anything. I’m just writing love songs. I’m not trying to be pop. I’m not trying to be jazz. I’m not trying to be anything. I’m just writing love songs and everyone loves a love song.”
You’re absolutely right, Adele, and because you are who you are, everybody loves you. I remember back when a certain band of Lady Gaga’s followers were all bitch-fitting about you because you were selling more records and receiving more nominations than Mother Egg Hatch or whatever she goes by these days, and people said that you were just another flash in the pan like so many who’ve come before. Boy, were they wrong.
However, the reality of the situation is that Adele DOESN’T do stunts and she DOESN’T pretend to be anything she’s not (nor does she act like there’s more than what’s seen with the eyes), and that’s the most refreshing thing you’ve got going for you. Far as I’m concerned, even Lady Gaga and all of her avant-garde silliness doesn’t hold a candle to what Adele (and a lot of other musicians) do, because what Adele has is true, and it’s real, and it’s music. It might not be the most innovative thing in the world when you compare it to today’s prosthetics and alter-egos and pyrotechnic stage shows, but you guys remember “music,” right? I know – it’s been away for a long, long time, widely confused with synthesizers and auto-tune and pretty girls and boys who have record deals because they look good on the covers of albums, but what Adele’s got is real, and there’s no denying that no matter how you feel about her music.
I think she would ‘kill’ to lose forty pounds..
oK….
Can we just settle this now because if there is another “Don’t f*ck with Adele she is beyond Perfect and better than the second coming of Jesus and RaGHHHH!!!” post then I will have to start
Adele is a very talented and sucessful singer. She has amazing stage presence and is hilarious and really pretty. She also happens to be overweight. Some people think this is an issue, others don’t care, because they just like the music and are not shallow.
In my humble opinion, the only time someones weight should be criticised is by a healthcare professional. I don’t get where constantly slamming people has suddenly become socially acceptable. It goes both ways too. This blog is notorious for slamming celebrities who they have “diagnosed” with anorexia, or constantly defending and yet again bringing up an another celebrity’s weight who is considered overweight. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS?! This post makes it seem like the only reason Adele is considered a “””””ReAl””””” musician is because she is overweight and not a stage performer.
Criticising someone because they are skinny too also makes you the exact same type of shallow person who makes fun of Adele.
the fact that there is someone with that VOICE and still people are mainly interested in her weight…it is just sad and fucked up.
the only male singer whose weight was talked about like that was pavarotti and he didn’t just have a few pounds too many, he was so obese it killed him.
a woman could have found the cure for cancer, aids and parkinsons, she would still be criticized for being overweight…
Damn, that’s one pretty girl. Look at those eyes!
Geezus thats a big lip!
