It’s one of the most famous homes in all of the United States. Graceland is where Elvis lived, had his daughter, died. All of it. And it’s been a busy museum ever since.
So folks were shocked to learn the company that owns the mansion is selling is at auction this Thusrday, May 23rd.
Now actress Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis, is suing to stop the sale.
Riley’s lawyers filed this month claim that a company planning to auction off Graceland is fraudulently claiming that her mother — Elvis’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who died in 2023 — had borrowed money and put Graceland up as collateral. The papers say that the company, Naussany Investments & Private Lending LLC, “appears to be a false entity” and that the documents it presented about the loan were also fake.
She is asking that the court grant a restraining order against Naussany Investments & Private Lending LLC, “or any party acting in concert” with them “from conducting any non-judicial sale of the property.”
This is a mess. I hope Riley is correct and is able to save it. It’s a Memphis institution.
