Linda Kasabian did not participate in the actual murders by the Manson Family cult, but she did play a pivotal role. She was the lookout.
She was also a key witness at the trial and was granted immunity for her testimony against the members who did commit the gruesome murder of actress Sharon Tate and her unborn baby back in 1969.
Kasabian waited in the getaway car outside a Los Angeles mansion. Her passengers, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Charles Watson, had forced their way into the home, The New York Times reported.
Manson himself was sentenced to death for his role in the killings. However, in 1976 the California supreme court declared the death penalty unconstitutional and Manson was spared execution.
The cult leader died in prison in 2017 at the age of 83.
